Hi Guys,
My car is in Rhodes Smash repairs at the moment, well its been there for almost 2 weeks, to have the roof repainted.....
Went and had a look this morning looks good, but they put it out in the rain and sustained 'water marking'. They had baked the car yesterday afternoon which means it did have some drying time.
They are polishing it now, but im wondering if there will be any side-effects from the water marking? I was told it will all be removed and that its just a 'superficial easy to remove' thing.
Just wanting to know wether i will be looking at future issues or if this isnt a problem and the cut n polish will remove it all
Thanks guys Chris

New paint will mark VERY easily, especially if it's not polished or waxed to give it some form of protection.
Most paints wont bake and set fully for a few weeks, so if water gets on it, it will mark easily, but it will only mark the surface layer, it wont penetrate (unless it's a nast chemical that causes the marks).
Polishing the paintwork now will merely buff the top layer clean, and give the car a new look again, it will easily remove the marks, but if they dont wax, it wont help it next time it's raining.
You shouldn't get problems in the future from this.

With our 'soft' rain, it wont be an issue at all. The thing you DONT want to see anywhere near your virginal paint is bird That will destroy new clearcoat (even the HTC-2000 euro standard)bloody quickly.
Be super careful with it for 2 weeks, then give it the best coat of wax you can get your hands on and keep it there. Will look great for years.
