Hey guys.
Melted my lights apart this weekend and just took out the chrome section, then put them back together. Totally reversible, so I figured I'd just try it and see if I like it. I think it looks pretty good.
Suprisingly, you can't really tell that the housing is gone if you didn't know soarers. I have LED turn signals, and they look a lot better with this mod as well.

thats because the edges of the clear cover need to be blacked out to get rid of the clear line around the headlight. Highbeams can also be done no worries.

After a few days of having them like this, I have discovered a few things:
It shows any yellowing a lot more than factory chrome insides do.
Looking directly from the top you can see some of the factory glue that has mushed out of the seam. This can be fixed if you take out all the factory glue and reseal it with silicone. Other than that, the interior of the light is a flat black, really doesn't pick up light at all.
In the end, I think I've sold myself on black headlights, but not like this. I think I'll give my chrome inserts a shot of VHT Nightshades and see how it turns up.
