Hey guys.

A lady smashed into a couple of weeks ago and I was pushed into another car; maybe a blessing in disguise.
Basically her insurance is covering all the damage.

Now, I may have the opportunity to update my stock 91 front and rear bar (skirts aren’t damaged, but will need to update to match).

With the 97 front bar is it easiest to source directly from Toyota? Remember price doesn’t matter as her insurance is looking after it.

Also, what rear bar and skirts would match the 97 bumper nicely (possibly the best match is the 97 skirts and rear bar???)?

Cheers

what makes you think her insurance will pay for something not originally on your car?
91 front bar = ~$200
97 front bar = $700+ with grill, lights etc...

something tells me her insurance will go for the cheapest option, and that option is what your car was like before the accident.

It all depends on if the lights are stuffed or not. If they are then there will be little difference in price between the two.

yea you have to be careful as insurance are smart. they will get a price for 2nd hand front bar for you and tell you that it's only $150 and will not pay $700 for a 97+ bar. my house mate works for insurance thats why.

Suresh, be very very careful about updating the front bar to 97 models. insurance won't find the expensive parts forever. minimise cost of repair is the first goal.
if insurance company found out your privately upgrade the body kit. they won't pay you. my mates did that before. the insurance compayn will not cover the cost of the body kit(from memory).

Thanks for the info Daniel.

Im more interested in the front bar than the whole kit. Put it this way, if i get the front bar its a bonus and if i could get the whole lot it would be awesome.

Like Mathew said, the lights are stuffed so theres not going to be a huge difference in price. The cost between the bars are pretty much negligible brand new. If worse comes to worse i'll pay the difference between the two.

The guys taking it to the assessor today, so fingers crossed.
