Hey guys, just wondering what the proper way to get any part of a car painted. Is it just to spray on top of the old paint?
On my way to work this week this guy reared ended me, with average force. I thought there would be some damage. I got out and didn't see a dent at all, but on closer inspection, the paint cracked around the plates and some paint fell off near the plates revealing the previous colour - black.
I don't think paint jobs should be like this.. are they? or is it just on bodykits?

It looks like your car is metallic, If it is, it's best to get the whole bumper resprayed, it's very hard to match a metallic. It will have to rubbed back, then a primer coat, then an undercoat, then the colour, then a few coats of clear. Then rub one of the clear coats down, then polish it up, good as new.

Ken to answer your question about the black underneath yes its normal most likely its the black from the gell coat underneath that most body kits like your is finished in before its primed, painted and cleared.

I know that the car was originally black before. So, i'm thinking they just painted over the car without priming it or other preparations. Which i dun think is the right way.. is it?
