G Day all, I've had 2 stones strike my windshield in last month on seperate occasions driving in residential areas.Niether that hard but left sizeable chips and one hairline fracture. Before i get fixed my question is this..are the early windshields(93) fragile/brittle??seems to be.... If so I'll let them run their course and replace windshield at later date...can anyone recommend trustworthy outfits in sydney for repair/replacement.....CHEERS!

I had sizable stones hit my windshield in my '91 at highway speeds and never had anything more than very small pitting, and my current '96 is the same so I'd say no - maybe yours has already been replaced with a non oem at some stage in the past?

If the window is a non OEM, it might have just been replaced in order to pass a roadworthy? Due to having to much "Sandblasting" as they call it. I got a 91 with an original window and have never really had any stones hit it, I always try not to follow other cars close behind. There is a Company called National Windscreens, Im not to sure if they exist up in NSW, they do a pretty good job and use good windscreens

Get glass cover on your insurance - it costs me something like $2 extra per month, and in 15 years of driving I've used it to replace a sunroof, a rear passengers window (after a burglary), and a front screen, several thousand dollars worth all up (mostly because of the sunroof) so I figure its well worth it.
