Hi all,
I am looking to upgrade from my 91 TT,
I have called around and found a 98 Limited Factory Manual single turbo soarer, i know these are silly questions but what are the differences between the standard models and the limited also are there any gripes with the single turbo 98 models.

From what I understand the 1998 manual turbo was only available in the basic model. The ones I have seen do not have timber inserts, power seats or cruise control.
That's right. The manual ones I was looking at didn't have any of the electronics then later found out that a manual version wasn't available with the electronics and other bits n bobs.

Hi all,
Well i went to take a look at her today from what i can see 1998 2.5L single turbo, 5 speed manual just imported apparently it is some kind of "special" release. I am not sure i believe the importer but i am going to buy it anyway it is beautiful.
any feed back would be great from what i seen it has sunroof, no electrical seats but TRD exhaust system and the dealer stressed that it is all factory gear i am just wondering if it is a TRD vehical but either way doesnt matter.

Hi everyone I have just joined your group and have just purchased my 98 manual turbo Soarer. I looked for one of these for months and you are all correct, not one that I looked at that was manual had any of the extras. Before this I had a 98 V8 limited so its a bit of a difference without all the goodies. Good luck with the purchase Brett , dont pay to much for her some of these dealers are dreamers !

What did you pay for yours, Patrick? We have a late '97 VVTi n/a 3.0l, low auction grade so was fairly cheap (we are about to fix up the reasons for the low auction grade)

This is a 1998 VVTi manual that was recently advertised for sale in Liverpool (NSW). It has a TRD gear shifter and has been in Australia a couple of years.

I dont know when Toyota made my V8 Limited, all I know is it had the twin airbags and the import approval stated it was made in 98. It was brought into Australia in 2000 and I think back then the importer could state whatever he wanted for the year, so who knows
Thats one awsome colour. I looked at a couple this colour, they just didnt have the black interior I wanted.
By the way this is a great web site and an amazing source of knowledge from what seems to be a great group of people, who all have a love for an awsome car. I look forward to being a part of it.

Shane, I never bought that Soarer, but I was very tempted. I took it for a run and it went very hard, but the exhaust was a bit noisy and ride a bit too firm for me. But that was 12 months ago when the dealer was asking $29,900 for it. It only showed 35,000 km on the speedo, but now it's showing 70,000 I think. Last time I saw it advertised for $26,900.
