Progress Pictures.. Whole job was $4,400, moulded into the car and all. Car is now complete kit on, the rear bar has some small issues with fitiment but the rest of the kit is excellent fit, Next is wide ass wheels, paint job, supercharger and then interior. Not sure what colour I want, i got quoted $8,000 for White with blue pearl through it. Any suggestions, comments?

Try green, no, not the original, but lighter with pearl/metallic, dark colours look great on Soarers. I've just had mine done in Qld.......Place called Eurobody in Sumner Park (BMW approved, uses top quality paints and equipment)...We experimented with green/Blue pearl which you could only see when sunlight hit the car on angle...I can not describe it to you, but it was something else.....It wont be $8K if you talk to me....

Looks good but $8k sounds too high for a respray
its about right price, i have a mate whos a panel beater and his brother who owns the shop. He charges around the same price. but the result is Magnificent
i have seen 1-3k spray paint jobs......i'll rather drive the car just coated with the primer than letting them do the job

It depends on what you mean by ‘Spray Job’, Most people think it is a matter of just ‘whacking some paint on”. There is a lot more to a great paint job as apposed to an average one. For starters there are many questions: eg. Do I remove old paint all the way to bare metal, or do I just sand the panels down. What do I do about old repairs which may be lurking under the coat of paint?, What do I want to do about the slight dents and misalignments?. How many coats and what quality of paint do I use?, what type/budget and finally what about the clear coat (top clear coat is about $300 per litre). There are many more. The equipment, spray booth and who actually applies the paint have a lot to do with the final finish. As you can probably see from above pictures, this Soarer is as straight as brand new. I’ve seen people use ‘spray putty” to even out small ripples of imperfections. The end result is the car looks straight from some angles and ‘wavey’ from others. Top paint job is 80% preparation and 20% application. For a reasonable job like the one above (not a bare metal respray), you are looking at a LOT less then $8K. I have to disclose here that I have an interest in the above business, so if you are after a top paint job in Brisbane, talk to me and I will ensure your expectations meet your budget...

How long do you plan to keep your car? $8,000? That sounds way too much, in my opinion. Don't do what I've done...putting WAAAAY to much $$$ than my SC is really worth. As long as you plan on keeping it for a while then no worries. Just keep in mind it's hard to get total replacement from the insurance, they only go by book value. BTW...how about graphite gray with a gold pearl?? LOL

I've noticed that the Vertex front bar don't actually sit flush with the front of the bonnet (between the high beams), but sits lower, like in Masato's pic above. Thats normal right?

i am no expert on panel beating and respraying so i dont really know what my mate does, weather he takes the paint off all the way to the metal or just sand it off.
but what i know is sometimes its worth saving up for a real job then going the cheap way out.
after all, a good paint job can change everything.

Ken my vertex fits flush with the bonnet, no after market kit is perfect thats why you pay a good panel beater to fit them and fix any mistakes with the kit.

Yes, too right about after market kits, especially Ebay type for $500 for the lot (front, back and sides)..Lots and lots of mods, trials etc, needed. Unless you don’t have an eye for detail and think that front bar not aligning the bonnet is "normal".
A good test on your eye on quality is that when you drive behind brand new Commodores or even worst still, Falcons, and the misaligned exhausts (especially the oval type) bother you, you know you've got 'it'.

you also have to take into account masato has an aftermarket bonnet aswell..
spray jobs.. most of the time you get what you pay for. if you want a 1-3k job it will be pretty dodgy and will stuff up fairly quickly. 6-8k is an alright price for a bare metal respray thats how much mine is costing.. you want something done right then do it right. masato your car is looking sweet and dallas your car is coming along pretty good i hope its all good when totally finished hey masato i got a few pics of mine just coming out of the spray booth id sms you but my phone is in getting repaired. i have posted them here.. http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/283/196009.html?1204029991
