'tis. When you think that the quality we provide is world-class and that those 10 hours spent on the detail @$550- included 4 people full time. That's a world-class tradesman with 3 appretices for a low fee.
Even dodgy electricians cost $120 p/hour.
Those who appreciate my services also know that my counterparts in the UK and the US charge $1000's of dollars for the same services. The only reason I don't is that I simply cannot, Australia isn't ready yet.
But our $20,000 Royale Wax (we are the only detailers in the coutnry to have Zymol Royale), $12,500 Dry-Steam Machine (again, the only detailers in teh country to utilise this for cars) comes at a price that mst be paid somehow.
Results are worth the extra, esp at our prices. I'm just upset at my services being compared to other detailers, they are apples, We are Oranges.

A dude from Southern California on the Chevy forum I am on has a history of award winning show cars. He and his buddies regularly clean up all the awards at the big shows there. These are big shows full of multi hundred thousand dollar cars. He reckons he routinely gets wax salesmen touting their thousand dollar waxes at him. One of these was Barry Meguiar with some super duper Brazilian Carnauba wax, formulated with the tears of orphans or some garbage. This guy let Barry have his guys apply their billion dollar wax to one panel of his car, and then ask people which panel had the special wax on it. Noone could pick it.
He uses wax he buys for about 40 bucks, and 3M glaze. He said he chooses wax based on ease of application and lack of chalk. He reckons 99% of it is the paint job, and beyond that, any reasonable quality wax applied well is as good as any $982365936 rainforest bullsh!t. And this dude has rooms full of trophies.

Indeed, after all its just wax people! How can they justify $20K for a tub of stuff that comes out of a common as dirt palm tree? Its more of a rip off than current petrol prices!

hmmm time to undercut my competition..
ill only charge $4000 AND ill even do it in my red superman jocks for an extra 10%
YOU KNOW you wanna see more ! hahahaha.
Sorry for my thread pollution. I personally wouldnt pay 10K for a wax but i would not be afraid to fork out 500 or so for a decent proper job IF my paint was ok to begin with.

No, its not 10K for a wax job, its for a pot of wax, which I presume would last for quite a few coats. Still silly though, the stuff comes out of trees for gods sake, its a renewable resource!
