Ian, that was a little while back, but probably still available if you mention Soarer Central. Other places are doing similar prices too apparently, windscreens from China, but apparently they work OK.

I talked to my Windscreens O Brien man today, and he said a lot of screens in Aus come from China now, including most of GMH stuff. Quality is good and price OK. Around the $250 mark fitted.
Listed under the normal Toyota section in his catalogue.

The genuine Toyota Soarer windscreen, especially for the later model years have a permanent water repellent coating and non polarizing laminate construction. They are a lot stronger and much higher quality than the aftermarket parts. They also cost about four times as much.

Hi all, two years on, and Instant Windscreens [Tel: 132444] quoted me $245.00 for a Soarer Windscreen.

Whilst I did quote the Neil national $250 referral deal via SoarerCentral I sense that the price is fairly much like this anyway as I was quoted $250 over the phone for the same. So guys and gals don't be paying more than this.

My question to the experienced ones: Are there any particular oddities, special features, sensors etc etc must catered for as part of a Soarer windscreen replacement [1995 GT-L UZZ31] ??

P.S. The reason why I am replacing said w'screen is that when baby was in the shop having the exhaust enhanced, the guy was grinding metal and hot filings sprayed onto the w'screen and burnt little marks [tsk tsk ] and he is paying for it to be replaced. Interestingly the bonnet paint wasn't damaged - testimony to a good original Japanese paint job perhaps.

For a 1995 UZZ31 see Roger's post above

So, if someone else is paying...

Yeah I got mine done from Mr. Windscreen in Preston and what started from $230 fitted, ended up costing me I think 290 or just over 300, cause apparently he had to do this and that...

Then again I am happy with the job he has performed, although not very professional...bumped my car into the tow bar of the jeep in front of my car, then denied the whole thing, despite the fact that when you lined them up they were a perfect match, got my money for it though.

SO I think to sum it up, stick with either O'Brien or Instant Windscreens

Just my 2 cents

Windscreens O'Brien. $430 screen and installed. Windscreen had an imperfection in it (like the plastic in the middle was warped). Rang them replaced straight away.

Has anyone had to replace a rear windscreen on a GZ-20. Windscreens O'Brien quoted me $2,360.00 and there was not one in Australia.

A mate had his window smashed, got quoted $1500, kids that smashed it payed up for it, went to the wreckers, $40 for the window $100 to fit.

Call up first though, as some shops are reluctant to install second hand rear windows.

I got mine replaced about a month ago.
