more than likely it's window tint, but apparently you can get tint in a spray can. I'm in the process of finding some tint myself, however i'm seeking reflective silver tint to match the colour of my car.

Might as well take advantage of this thread, anybody know where you can get some besides tinting shops?

It isn't windscreen tint.

You buy the stuff from autobarn etc. It is made for tail lights and plastic surfaces. Spray it on as many coats as you like.

I blacked out the rear indicators on both of my 92 TT's, looks so much better.

Easiest tint is to wrap them in a silk stocking :-)

hahah seen that.. looks dodgy especially if you get "ladders" in them ! hah

Mark - yes they are an easy target for cops as they stick out like dog's balls

Still - they look tough as though, especially on a black Soarer

the stuff from autobarn is called "Niteshade" by VHT. it isn't illegal as far as i am aware, just like window tint, there is a point at which it does. as long as the lights are visible in the daytime when they are on, there are no issues. once you have sprayed your lights, use miguires fine cut cleaner (in a cream bottle) to lightly buff and polish the "crusty" bits off

It depends on how much you spray on David. On my 92 soarer lights i just sprayed the indicator strip black (orange is the ugliest colour and it belongs nowhere near a car)But yeah mate, indicators come through nice and orange, just don't spray too much on or you won't see them during the day

Yeah, how many coats did you put on your lights? I was just going to do the whole unit bar the reverse light, I checked in the LTSA W.O.F. book today and it isn’t illegal unless it is obstructing the light etc, is there any way to remove the paint once applied? Just use 1000-2000 grit wet and dry?

Yep!

If you are going to tint your lights while you are at it fit some LEDs so that the rest of us can tell when you are indicating and breaking

night shades sucks ass, obviously no one here has ever used it.
It drys very matte, so your lights will look very gay, it also makes your lights (red) light up orange, it tints them badly

For the proper way to do it there is a guy on NS that did it properly, You use 50/50 clear and black 2 pac paint, you can tehn also add any colour or metalic for further effects, it is a much nicer way to do it

I bought my car with the blinkers darkened a bit. I think it looks nice.
I'm also planning on pulling off that ugly strip between the lights, just scared there will be no paint under there

I'm going to try and do this lightly to the turning/fog lights on mine so they match the black front and highbeam lights I've got coming. Should look quite cool. Anyone else done this?

Just sprayed my tail lights on my 93 v8.

turned out quite nice althought i origanly wanted to paint only the bottom half for a faded effect like the car looks at the top of this thread^

couldnt achieved this becouse the paint got gritty if there was not enough applied, so just covered the hole light. 2 coats was enough with half a can left
