Hi Guys,
Since getting our soarer we have been wanting to do some work to it.

We started small with getting new Tail lights and head lights.

One night on the way home from work we got side swipped by some hones who thought it was funny trying to run us off the road

They hit into us twice.
Lucky we didnt put the car in to get the kit put on that week.

So we now had some major damage to fix.
We rang Mel who was only to happy to help.

First of all we took the car in to Mel to repair the damage side.
Then we took the car over to the spoiler shop and had the new kit put on, we also replaced the high beams with glass high beams and put in clear indicators.
Then back to Mel for a new paint job.

Click on the link to take you to a web site i have Just started. ive put some before, during pics.
http://mysoarer.bravehost.com/photo.html#bn-photocenter-1-1-194634156
I will post some after pics when we get the car back from Mel, carnt wait.

Thanks for your comments.
Yes we got their rego.
After they hit us they tried to get away.
I rang through to the police and we followed them concerned that they either where in a stolen car or false plates.
Because we could not believe someone would do this to their own car.

We continued following them, but karma struck.
Further up the road the driver hit the loose gravel and spun out of control running down a ditch and into a fence.

The driver ran off into the bush.

At least we got to drive our car away.
Its still in the hands of the police.

Our car should look super, the main part will be done.
Now its just the small things, mags ,the interior things like that.

Cheers Liz

Should turn out nice when it's all finished.

I would have gotten out and chased the guy down and flattened him if he did that to my car!!

Not sure whats happening with him, his passengers where drunk so no dought he was drinking as well.

One thing for sure, after we get the car back im going to find someone to insure it.

Hubbies had a couple to many speeding tickets, so were finding it hard to get it insured.

But i suppose speeding tickets come hand in hand with owning a soarer.lol
Well in our household it is.

Try Dawes Underwriting.

They are sydney based, but really good.

I have a 5 page driving history and they insured me for a reasonable premium (better than just cars) and have pay by month.

Also were really good when I had to make a claim (not at fault, parents neighbour reversed into car when it was parked on street at their place)
very helpful and speedy, and choice of repairer

Hope Karma gets the bogans that did this too you real good!

The climb exponentially after that - for less than 10k over the limit its $30, then its $80, then something like $200, $500 etc. My beef is that once you allow for some margin of error on the camera, your speedo, and general human error, how can a driver be expected to NOT get ticketed if they are going to set them as low as 4km/h over the limit, unless you constantly drive well UNDER the limit. I pretty much NEVER do what I would consider to be speeding - I haven't been ticketed by a cop for 3 years, and even when I was it was for doing 11km/h over the limit (111 in a 100 zone which was a fair cop as at that speed I knew I was over the limit), yet this is the second camera ticket I've had this year for doing between 4 and 6km/h over the limit, both very early in the morning when nobody else was around, both times the camera placed at the bottom of a long downhill run. Revenue gathering? I think so.

WHAT? 54km/h in a 50 Zone? Can you get fined for that? I go 50-60 most of the time, usually just under 60 as 50 is an utter joke thats so slow, you may as well get out and walk.

That just disgusting. Blatant revenue gathering, no doubt.

I've had two speeding fines over the last few years. One for 70 which was fair enough, down a hill, $120 it set me back.

The second pissed me off big time, in my UZZ30 I was going down great south road to my old Saturday job at Mitre 10 and got tagged by a van parked... I didn't even know it till I got the letter. The speed was 61km/h I was so outraged, $80 for practically nothing.

Why can't this horrific Government and its transport ministry just spend more time on making licenses harder with proper tests, where the drivers skills are tested so that drivers on the roads actually have decent skills to drive at higher speeds, allowing the limits to be raised. I would rather urban areas be 60-70km/h, industrial zones 80-90km/h and the motor way 120-130km/h... much better! And for pedestrians to have courses on how to navigate around the cars so we don't have to worry about hitting them, Fences all around schools near roads would be a priority too.

Anyway with having harder drivers licenses it would surely keep all of the recent 3rd world idiots that just started driving a recently off the road as they lack the skills completely to drive correctly as goes for a number of other useless members of society which are just hopeless.

To keep them off the road, if caught with out a license driving, a $1000 fine should be made and 3 months imprisonment or home detention. Also for the dirty schmucks buying fake licenses that are found the fine should be $10,000 and 1 year imprisonment.

The road would be much safer! But may dreams be free, its only going to get worse with more fools, more 3rd world people coming here to drive, originally used to riding a mule. Also don't forget the dangerous cars owned by muppets that cut springs etc and don't maintain their brakes, let alone get a WOF, which I'm sure are on the rise!

Arghhh!!!

I hear you Mike!, and agree completely.
Our immigration policy needs a BIG overhaul, and smartly in my opinion to stop this influx of 3rd world rabble that see NZ & OZ as a soft touch.
Unfortunately as long as we have a sycophantic, mealy mouthed, touchy-feely government the situation will continue.

Check out this link for the "menu" and "price list" for speeding in New South Wales.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/rulesregulations/penalties/speeding.html

This part I find bloody ridiculous - "...the penalties if you are convicted by a court... Exceed speed limit by... Not more than 15 km/h... Court Maximum Fine (is) $2200"

Thank you Don,

It's reassuring to occasionally have someone that also agrees.

On a slightly different issue but on the same track, the scary part is, me being just shy of 20, have found the majority of my generation are all politically correct, sensitive and to open minded. Most of them have been brought up to go with the flow and follow like sheep (ha.. sheep). Not me however, I'm more of an individual that steps aside from all the PC shyte, specifically for example the pronunciation of places in NZ with a non European name, being a Kiwi you will know what I mean! I'm utterly sick of it, as its for a lost cause and is getting worse every month - unfortunately it's become or becoming completely ingrained in society here in every public system, especially schools - God help us what the next few generations from school will be like in the years to come! Eeekk..

Still, the best thing is to just ignore it and be enjoy yourself! Can't do much about it!

Sorry to digress from your thread topic Liz!

I just need to say what had to be said in relation to some other posts. :-)

They included in the envelope a thing about speeding in school zones - "anyone over the limit in a school zone during the busy morning and afternoon periods will be fined from 4km over the limit - no excuses" - the first fine - well I'm not aware of any schools where it was, and it was at 7am, which is hardly a busy school time, and the second was near a school, but at 6:30am. In both cases there was literally nobody on the footpaths, let alone kids.
