All depends where the vents are, if your dropping water on any part in your engine bay its not good. Ever. Your alteranter isnt going to love it either.
Or any electrical conections

And if youve got hot turbos water doesnt help with cracking

Same with coilpacks etc, any way, water is bad. Some bonnet vents will drop it only near the radiator which is fine, except the fan will still blow it all back into the motor still.

And over years it cant help with rust. Cars were designed to last for years, so you wont really know till 10 years down the track if this has effected you or not

i have the seibon carbon bonnet, and i havnt had any problems at all,and i have aftermarket coilpacks on my rocker cover which i place a plastic bag over when i wash the car, just to stop the excess, but rain is fine, perhaps not if you leave it parked in the rain though

Says the man who's car has only been out of the shed for what, 100km in the past 18 months?

Pics I took below, IMG tags dont work. Bummer

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm173/buffalotheatre/evobonnetvent178.jpg

a few notes, obviously ther is aluminium grates so that water doesnt just gush down through the bonnet. But....
The run east west and the turbo gets really wet, ad so does the alternater.
How do i know this? there are white stains all over his block, alternator and then some heat discolorations on the trubo itself too.

When your driving it prob isnt too bad, as water wont be coming down that much, but if you park your car overnight and it rains alot, then you may be in for some troubles. Teh evo cant get its coilpacks wet, but the 1j can with most vents.

Anyway. I myself am going to run bonnet vents, but not like this thats for sure, i will be taking a leaf out of JGTC here

Ducted right to the bonnet, and JGTC cars dont have to worry about rain.... they move too quick.
But you can tell that their setup would work teh best from a cooling point of view anyway
