After having the car parked underneath a tree about a week ago, I found that I have all these clear, gooey type of blobs (from very tiny to larger sizes) all over the car, and there are a lot of them. I suspect they would be tree sap. The bad thing is I don't know how to remove it. I have washed the car several times, while I was able to remove the larger blobs, the tiny ones are quite hard to remove. Anyone have any recommendations of how I would be able to remove these? I have tried out FW1 cleaning Wax which I have (contains CARNAUBA) but it hasn't helped.

Hi Razvan,

You can tried to use a clay bar to remove the tree sap and you can get them from here:

http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/products/clay_magic

Wax doesnt remove the tree sap, its just protect the paint.

Hot water might help.

You might try isopropyl alcohol (sold as rubbing alcohol and sometimes as glass cleaner) or other solvent if you want (try on an inconspicuous area first, to check for possible paint damage). I've used it with success on tree sap, which is an issue where we live, but of course tree saps vary markedly in composition.

We use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning glass instruments.

Cheers, I used isopropyl alcohol on the whole car yesterday and that helped a bit. I tried wiping with hot water today and was good as well. I will probably have to repeat this a few times. I am almost tree sap free. The hot water seemed to be the best at the moment.

Don't forget to cover the car with a good coat of wax as you have removed it with all the alcohol.

This will help to make tree sap removal easier next time around.
