Yesterday I had nothing wrong with my door handle ar central locking/immobiliser.

This morning I unlock the car with the key fob and my handle wont open the door, even though I can see the car is unlocked.

My passenger side wont open either however it will open when I unlock the door with my key. The drivers side wont open with the key, and only when I open it from the inside.

Anyone have any idea on why this is happening? Its been fine up to this morning.

Any help would be good!

i really am a stupid noob who should have searched.

this thread:

http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/283/163356.html

http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/283/24819.html

was the first result when searching for, "door problem"

If anyone else has this problem, place the clip inside the hole first and then place the rod into the clip.

make sure you remove anything you left inside the door.

i put my phone in there with a light on the back facing up to see what i was doing. fixed it, put the door back together and heard a clunking noise when i opened and closed the door. i left the bloody phone in there!

Well Ryan.. i've had the same problem around a month ago.. i dint knew what to do that time.. so i've opened the door cover and tried to figure out what is the problem.. and what i found was the same thing like your one.. that plastic clip was broken.. and its not sticking in the hole.. i didn't knew what to do then..

i've asked a mechanic.. he said that i need to buy the plastic clip and then he can fix it for me.. what he need to do is.. take out all the stuffs and put the new plastic clip on and then put it back again.. and he asked 150$ for that as its a hard repair job..

whatever.. i didn't knew where to go for this plastic clip.. so when i came back home i've opened the door cover again.. and tried to get the general theme of the door handle kit.. how it works.. what i get after analyzing the handle kit is.. the plastic clip with the metal rod need to get stuck in that hole in the door handle.. VERY SIMPLE... so what i did then was placed the plastic clip in the hole of door handle and tied it up with a few rubber bands.. and tied it hard.. that's it..

its a bit hard hand work to reach near the hole and tie it up there.. because you cant see what you are doing and its pretty hard to get your hands in there.. but still.. its working well now.. and working very well..

I'll get a picture and post soon if you want..

In Australia you use fence wire or if you're from the big smoke Gaffa tape

well.. ;) i didn't had anything at home.. and i was too tired to go out to buy something and look for something..

and.. it was the most easiest way to do it.. cause.. i've written before.. its hart to get your hands in there.. and i did it without taking out any stuff.. any thing at all.. i didn't take out.. just opened the door cover.. get the rubber band.. placed the clip in position.. and tied it up with the rubber band using 2/3 finger...

and that's it :-)

ahahhahahahahah why don't I read the forums more often!

I had the same problem with my drivers exterior door handle for about six months - yes 6 MONTHS! I just lived with climbing through the passenger side or leaving the window cracked so I could reach the interior handle.

... until my grandfather finally said for goodness sake bring it over and I will fix it!

So we took the trim off (I had done that 4 times previously and it kept breaking - also left a torch inside - for 4 months!) and took the whole mechanism out of the door - I was initially regretting it because it's so hard to get out - how will we get back in!

Anyway - long story short, had to weld and create a new rod to build onto the mechanism between the door and the latch, and now its brilliant.

So yes - make it stronger than stock, and remove ALL items before securing the trim.

I am in heaven now because everything mechanical and physical works on my car!
