Is there any history of rust prone areas on our beloved Soarers? Can't see any signs on mine and mines as old as they get. I suppose if you have water getting past the seals, I'm thinking windscreen or boot, and it's left, then you could end up with rust. Other than that and with an engine that can go for just about forever we should be able to keep these beauties on the road for as long as we want.

Our cars dont rust mate ;)... its a galvanised metal so no rust, unless you get in a accident and dont get it fixed.

Dave, I've never seen OR heard of a rusty 30 series Soarer, due to the galvanised panels like Shane says. Having said that, the guy that owned ours had a "Thing" about rust (Probably from owning Holdens!), and went nuts with body "Wax", and had it sprayed into EVERY possible cavity

| Actually Dave, thinking about your post, I have NO intention of EVER selling our Soarer (Unless I buy a minty Ltd with ALL the options), so I'm quite happy to spend wads of loot on whatever it needs, which at the mo, is pretty much zilch. And the way I look at it, these things have lasted VERY well for 14 years with possibly/probably indifferent owners, with only relatively minor problems, so I would expect with loving, caring, fastidious(ish) owners like us lot, they will last forever . Now all I gotta do is convince Karen that she NEEDS a Soarer instead of her "Bouncing Beer Can", aka 95 RAV4 3 door, which she is overly fond of, and insists on waxing with my Meguires carnuba wax (sniff) at LEAST once a month!

I've seen one that had rust... very slight rust but still noticed it. Only one Soarer though so I don't know how well it was taken care of... or lack thereof.

Yeah Jose, I spose if someone did a crap repair, and scraped through the galvanising, thereby exposing naked steel, you could have a bit of a problemo

rust in a soarer no chance, i have a repaired section on my car and i made sure that it was done well, my car is a million pieces at the moment and no rust what so ever anywhere and i looked. Il can safely say rust will never be an issue with a soarer, well mine anyway. By the way does anyone know how many soarers came out of the factory per day , in the proccess of striping my car i have found that the QA proccess must have been very very stringent as almost anything big enough to have a signature or sticker had a OK initial on it plus other jp writing i mean my spoiler had a date of fitting inside plus an ok with what a belive a quick inital of the worker.

If you want to find rust in a soarer then remove the lil plastic cover that goes over the staple part that the door shuts onto on body of the car. You may get a nasty surprise if what I've seen on the cars at the wreckers is any indication.

The door staple part and under the boot lid in some soarers (due to antenna mountings or previous owners closing boot on solid objects) are possible places.

Paul, you have by far the best/clearest headlights I've seen on a Soarer. You obviously take brilliant care of your machine.

I've just read this topic now... I've got a bit of rust. One is on the driver's side door right under the window half way, litle rusty dot. Someone must have bumped it hard a while ago and scraped paint off it. Another one is (again) on the drivers side, when u open the door, right next to the metal bracket thingy that latches the door, bit rusty around there, strange since I cant see any sign of damage. And last one is in the engine bay, on the very front of the left quarterpanel. Tiny bit of rust on the edge. Not sure how that got there neither...

I might try that sometime actually. They do look like surface rust, not that there's a hole that it went through. But one seems like it's more serious though. I guess I'll see when I do it. I bought the car like that so...
