Do you mean matt black like all the stupid Honda "drifters" paint their bonnets? Ends up looking like its been painted with black primer?

Mmmm dont paint your soarer flat black, it looks tacky as anything - almost like you can afford to finish painting your car!

Thats what i want . If its done properly it looks good. Im going to do the whole car engine bay the lot. You can put a clear on it to make it look better. Or maybe paint it a satin black

Exactly, I am contemplaing converting my dark green to matt/flat black.

I think it looks great if done properly. Each to their own though I guess :-)

I like the look of that race car, however im not sure a car would look nice done entirely in that without something to break up the colour.
In the race car's case it has the decals etc.

But as Matt said, each to their own! ;D

I've been contemplating also, but broken up with colour or it will look crap. Been too busy to even look at my car for the last 3 months.

there was one on ebay, here's the pics i got of it. But it was a two tone, absolute shocker.

I do however like matte black, but i think satin would look much better.

Flat black can look good as long as you do it professionally though.

Well, I guess you can save money and time by NOT having to polish it??? Nice try Joe, hehe, but you can paint a Ferrari turd brown and it would still look good.

Yes, some of those do look good but definitely needs something to break it up. Like anything, I guess it looks crap if you use a $10 spray can from supercheap like the Ricer boys do.

The wheels on that Soarer are criminally bad taste though.

Am talking to the spraypainter this afternoon. Just also trying to figure out how much detail im going into with the engine bay . i wouldnt mind having the whole thing smoothed all holes filled , but i will see how much this will cost.i had a look at a RX7 he did in satin black and i think it turned out great .

Im curious to see how a flat black would look with a few coats of clear over it.... would those clear coats add even the tiniest hint of gloss?

It would probably end up glossy grey. But mixing a hint of clear into the flat black might do the trick? It would be a trial process to find a happy ending.

They have started to use a gloss black as the base coat and then use a flat/matte clear as the finish. It last as long as normal paint , where as a GM Flat Black starts to fade after about 6 months.

Looks good on the right car. Needs a widebody kit to look though, and I mean a proper wide body kit.

Matt black has to be on a highly modded ride I rekon.

On stock car it would look absolutely crap!! Like it was all smashed up and only been half repaired.
