hi everyone bought a body kit the other week 2nd hand. first time i've ever fitted a body kit to a car.

my question is about the side skirts. do i have to rip this bit of plastic off to get it to fit properly? and how is it stuck on there... clips? glue?

(passenger rear)

my test fit

also there's a black strip that is in the door sill that just pops in. but with the body kit fitted it covers those holes? do i have to just forgo using that bit of plastic, or is it worth drilling the holes for it.

thanks for any help

im not sure if you have to take it off to fit the kit, probably will. but to take them off, the front one is held on by a nut (remove wheel liner near it, no need take wheel off) and a clip. the rear is held on by three clips, just have to pry it off.

I just fitted my second hand Vertex front from Joe...fits perfectly because it's been fitted prior to a jzz30. I haven't had to touch a drop of resin :-)

Shane: That rear strip does come off. Ususally theres an extra strip with the kit to go on the bottom of the door as well, i.e. when you fit say 97 side skirts to a pre-97 body, there are also some strips to fit on the doors.

yeah i guess i don't have those strips aaron.

it doesn't look TO bad with out them

but yeah bought the kit off another member on here for $500, is already painted white so i don't really need to do any painting.

the 2 screw holes on the ends don't match up properly so i'm going to have to drill some new ones in it to get it to hold properly.

but yeah just dummy fitting it for now. as some the front bar needs a tiny bit of work done to it. and i plan on respraying my soarer in the near future and so i might as well do it all at the one time so it looks good and proper.

going to just spray it white again (probably without the pearl) so i don't need to go back to bear metal and all the door jambs, boot and engine bay will still match.
