Recently I purchased some 97 tail lights however they didnt come with light bulbs or the plugs.

At the time I didnt think this was a big deal, however after finally getting around to install them I found that the current plugs and lights do not fit in the 97 sockets (upgrading from 94 tail lights)

What I wanted to know is whether their is a way to get around this ?

Maybe try Toyota? Namely Castle Hill Toyota
www.chtoyota.com.au as they don't shy away from import owners.

thats no good the only other way would be to try match up the sockets with ones from wreckers and make your own or find a car with smashed 97 tail lights and see if the harness and sockets are ok

If you don't fancy soldering a capacitor into the flasher unit you might try grafting a 35w halogen bulb to replace the existing 21w flasher bulb - it should make the flash rate nearly standard.

Just a thought....
