Hey guys,
I have had my '95 model V8 soarer for a year now and am looking at changing the original front bar to the '97 bar with the grill. I went to the local Lexus dealership and got prices for the original front bar ($640), front grill ($200) and fog lights ($280ea), but they couldn't tell me if the '97 bar would fit on my '95. Has anyone had any experience changing these over, more specifically does it fit.
Also I don't mind paying the money for the grill and bar but the fog lights seem pretty expensive. Could anyone recommend another option, maybe a generic fog light or is anyone selling any?

I have never heard of anyone having issues inter-changing front bars between 91-97 models.
Should go to Toyota would probably have been cheaper. Try Castle Hill Toyota in NSW and say your a Soarer club member. James Sloane is the parts guy there. I'm in Vic and have bought several items off them.
Fog lights $300USD pair from www.luxurymods.com - would probably be about $400-450AUD delivered. Combine postage with the grille and might save even more.
Also check out below link for cheap prices on all OEM parts.

I just changed my 92 front bar for the 97. $570 for the bar from Castle Hill NSW $130 for the grill from Carsons Toyota in the US Have not fitted fogs as they are too expensive. The impact foam does not HAVE to be changed, but the panel shop will have to spend 2 minutes trimming it otherwise you can see it through the grill. Panel shop said it was a b@stard to fit, but who knows...

yeah they are just bastards to fit due to where all the bolts and scrivets are located.. all in hard to reach places and there is alot of other parts holding it on lol.. in other words its made properly not like aussie cars where 4 screws and 2 scrivets and it pops off lol

Hey guys, Thanks heaps for the advice. I had a look on carsons toyota website and a grille cost $US80 and i am looking on ebay for the Dodge Intrepid fog lights. Are the Dodge lights a decent fight or is it just a cheap replacement for the original ones? Let you know how it goes. Cheers Bob

Hold on there cowboy, I got the Intrepid lights yesterday, and they may fit V8's but they do not fit Turbo's because of the placement of the intercooler.
They also require extensive surgery to fit the factory bar.

thats bit sad to see lawrence was hoping you were on to something with them lights. its ok i ended up getting a set of 97's nice and cheap brand new bob you should be able to get the genuine foggies brand new for around 400 a pair. it isnt too bad considering these are genuine brand new and a perfect fit into the 97 front bar.

Hey guys,
Got my bar in today and have ordered the grille and fog lights from carson toyota. I also bought a set of soarer mirrors with LED indicators in them from eBay for $A125 including delivery which i though was pretty good considering i saw that some one on Aussie eBay paid $A380 for the exact same pair. By the way if anyone is interested i bought them on eBay Canada and he was selling 4 more. There ended up being about 20 bidders on the ones here so i thought more people might be interested if they are so much cheaper.
Let you guys know how everything goes with the grille and foggies coming from America and the mirrors.

Hey guys...
sorry its been a while, but coincidentally i picked up my car yesterday. Everything has been fitted except the mirror covers, which i don't think i'm going to put on cause they fit really badly and i think it would cost more to fix them up than what i paid for them. Really happy with the bar and the paint work and the grille looks sweet. The lights were the only thing that gave them trouble as the plugs were different to the earlier model lights but an auto electrician should be able to sort that out.
Carson Toyota were really good to deal with. I got my order in about a week so i would definantly recommend them and i paid about half of what toyota wanted here.
I'll post some pics soon..

Bob, good to hear a success story with the Bar and grille, I need to do the same to tidy up the damage on mine. Any chance of Carsons contact details/Lexus part numbers for the grille and lights/

I bought the lights and grill over the net. They ask you to register but it only takes a few minutes. The site is http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214915 if you select 97 model lexus sc400 all the parts that are available come up. Its a fairly simple site to navigate.
However the part numbers were
grille - 53114-24020 right hand light assembly - 81210-24040 left hand assembly - 81220-24040
hope this helps
James i read your plans for the cruise and am very keen but i have to play cricket that day unless i can get out of it. I haven't been on a cruise before so it would be could to meet a few guys who are also interested in soarers.

sorry it took a while for the photo. i also got the front debadged. it cost me 600 for painting and fitting but the fog lights need to be wired up by a auto electrician as the plugs didn't fit straight in, and i agree with previous comments that the guys that put it on said it was a pain in the arse to get on.

too plain and organic for my tastes
Sounds like a breakfast cereal!
Personally, I prefer the later style with the grille, mine looks too plain without it! Mind you, mine is champagne metallic and color changes what looks right.
