Hey guys,

I need some advice.

Theres a soarer i'm interested in but its paint is fading. Only the plastic tho. That is the front and rear bar and the mirrors. It also has a about a half meter dint that it got from a side swipe.

My idea is just put a kit on and spray the whole thing? Just not sure how much it would cost; i need some idea so i can negotiate with this guy.

Also thought about just painting the bumpers but i'm guessing it will be hard to match the paint since its red and i'm guessing it would have faded over the years.

Any suggestions?

how much would it cost for a full spray.

Not sure if its worth my while

cheers,

Try getting a bit of cutting compound on a rag and rub the out of it. you will be surprised how shiny it will come up especially on red.

buffed this chicks red car at work the other day, it was faded, when she picked it up she thought we painted it!!

find a good colour matcher and you wont need to repaint it .

if the clear is peeling your stuffed

My car had the same sort of sun damage on the bumper, top of the rear bar and top of the nosecone. I ended up having all the damaged bits resprayed, and now you can't tell the difference.

I did try buffing, but it appears the clear coat on the plastic bits decays. Can't recall how much that cost me.

A full respray? don't know from my own experience, but from what I've read anything from $3K to $6K.

Suggest you find a panel shop you trust and ask them for advice.

Perhaps a member in Qld can recommend a place or three....?

Im having the same problem with my clear fading and peeling so Im sanding the peeling clear back 1 inch from the lifting part and sanding the whole car and respraying but doing the prep work myself and getting the car sprayed then air brushed then cleared 20 times

you need to put primer on the edge where the clear is starting to peel to seal it off.if you dont you will get a reaction and see the edge when it is painted.

and 20 coats of clear is ridiculous .just wasting your money

lol yeah I'm putting a few layers of primer so it becomes the same height as the sanded back clear I wanna put alot of clear because its getting resprayed black and blue and with massive airbrushing which I dont want damaged from stone chips so hence the reason why so many layers of clear and a plus of the "wet" look

Hi,
Similar body and paint problems $1k for touch up and $3-$7k for a full respray. Suggest a full respray - your car deserves a treat. A touch up is like putting diamonds or pearls into a gold plated setting. It might look alright for a while but you but you'll never feel as good as if it was set 18ct gold the real deal. Wait and do it properly.

I am a detailer by trade, you should get the car accessed by a paint correctionist before you decide on the car being resprayed. It sounds like that the paint is oxidizing, and the clear is stuffed.

I recon a machined finish polish then a good wax, access the paint and go from there.

If you want to get the ding resprayed, save and respray the whole car $5000+ to do it half decent
