Hey Fella's,

Need some advice.
My car has not taken kindly to living on West Beach and some rather irritating surface rust has developed on leading edge roof.

1.In order to tidy/remove rust, Do the windscreen surrounds pop out or slide out?

2.The upper rubber seal looks poor and no doubt caused the corrosion in the first place.Can this be bought new?

3.I'm intending to replace the windshield(dings,small crack)by Shannons, anything I should be mindfull of?

The growing rust will cause the metal to expand and put enough pressure on the windscreen to eventually cause it to crack. For a proper repair/removal of the rust you'll have to remove the windscreen. A good panel shop will charge ~$1000 for the repair. Your insurance will not cover the windscreen if damaged by your failure to maintain your car.

It's 3 small surface spots only, I'm going to remove myself.
The small crack is from a chip and not related.

What looks like 3 small surface spots will likely lead to something much uglier once you take the angle grinder to it. Rust is like an iceburg, what you see on the surface is only 1/7th of whats going on underneath.

if the rust is only under the rubber and not near the glass just cut the rubber out and get a universal rubber off the windscreen guys.

but if it is under the screen your ••••••• same as cancer you cant just get what is on the surface.

Yeah its not near the glass,so hoping fix will be relatively straightforward.
Really odd because otherwise she's as clean as.
And while its safe to say most if not all Soarers have been neglected to some extent during their lives I've really looked after it.

I've decided to consult panel beaters tomorrow.
