The growing rust will cause the metal to expand and put enough pressure on the windscreen to eventually cause it to crack. For a proper repair/removal of the rust you'll have to remove the windscreen. A good panel shop will charge ~$1000 for the repair. Your insurance will not cover the windscreen if damaged by your failure to maintain your car.

What looks like 3 small surface spots will likely lead to something much uglier once you take the angle grinder to it. Rust is like an iceburg, what you see on the surface is only 1/7th of whats going on underneath.

Yeah its not near the glass,so hoping fix will be relatively straightforward. Really odd because otherwise she's as clean as. And while its safe to say most if not all Soarers have been neglected to some extent during their lives I've really looked after it.
