Depends on your budget.

Bowdens stuff is brilliant, but costs accordingly

Meguiars are quite good for the price as well

I use Meguires or Mothers, whichever is on special at the time. Both their cream wax from the "three step" system they use work well with my electric polisher, and both do a good "step one" gentle wash.

Just go with their three step process, wash, polish, wax - as long as your paint is in good nick you can't go wrong. I try and do mine every 3 to 4 months, then just wash and chamois dry in between.

A random orbital polisher is a good investment too, saves a of work and does a much better job than doing it by hand.

A good synthetic chamois and a load of resonable quality microfibre cloths and foam applicator pads are a must too. (doesnt matter what brand as long as they are lint free)

I use meguires class cleaner which is really good (and smells really nice too unlike most of them!) and Meguires detail on the black plastic bits, CRC silicon spray on my window rubbers etc (keep it off the paint!) and CRC tyre shine on the side walls. Meguires interior detailer for the inside of the car, and plast-x for the headlight main beams and fog lamps - high beams on my car are glass so don't need any polishing.

Of course these days with a toddler I usually don't get past cleaning the outside and its time to do something else!

Hi,

If your paint is in good condition, you have no need to polish, as that just removes clear coat. I use some Armor all Car wash liquid mixed into a spray bottle with water, gets rid of dirt pretty easily.

For tougher dirt, I have found that using window cleaner on my car is very effective, I have no idea whether it harms the paint though.

For wax, Turtle wax F21 is good and easy to apply. Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 requires a lot of effort to apply properly, but gives a very good shine at the end.

I use Meguiur NXT Tech Wax also. not sure why Boris finds it hard to apply properly - I find it easy to apply. Reapply when water no longer beads, which seems to last me about 12 months or so. (Car is garaged and does not sit out in the sun and rain very often - I cycle to work). I also use Meguiurs NXT Speed Detailer between waxing which keeps the shine looking great. Speed Detailer works great on my carbon fibre bike also.

It depends which one you use Murray. There are many NXT Products. Some are liquid and just require an easy rub, and some are actual wax in a tin that you have to use a pad to scrape off then apply. The product that comes in the tin is the hardest to apply properly without making smudges.
