Hi all. I was hoping for some feedback from members who have either 19 or 20" rims on their cars. (Maybe pictures) I currently run Mak 18" rims but am looking to upgrade shortly and am curious as to any ride or height problems (under the guards) Pros and cons would be appreciated.

Brett i put these 20" in my car. The car ran rough but it sat to high of the ground. I liked it but not enough to keep them on. It also put the speedo out. My car is not super low so there was only minimal guard problems that rolling the guards would fix. But would look great with a full body kit.

Not a great pic but at least you get the idea. These are 19s on stock height. Was lower, but had to raise for rego and the front bar was copping a hiding...
I've got 20s on my car (see profile). They are more comfortable to drive on than my old 18s.
Things to worry about:
Don't go too wide. 8.5" wide on the front with 245/30/20 will scrub the inner plastics if you lower the car more than 1.5-2.0 inches. For the rear, 9.5" wide on +45 offset would be the widest you can go without having to worry about how low the car is. You could probably lower the car 4-5 inches and it still wouldn't scrub. Careful with 10" wide on the rear, depending on height and suspension setup, it may scrub.

Thanks for the feedback
Paul - how was the speedo out? it is my understanding that the higher the wheel diameter the smaller the profile of the tyre hence the overall diameter of the wheel and tyre is the same. Have you sold your 20,s? Kate - how was the ride (comfort) of the 19,s? Simon - your wheels look good! your car has certainly come a long way from when we met at Lews a couple of months back
I've actually had the 20s for a while. Didn't keep them on the car for the Qld trip because I didn't have height adjustable suspension at the time, and the fronts were scrubbing.

Brett, comfort is good, I drive her on a daily basis and have no complaints. Haven't had any bone jarring moments even on relatively shoddy roads (used to get that on the r33 skyline with 17's and lowered suspension). I think the handling has improved as well. (compared to 17's which were on when bought)

Thanks Kate is that picture your normal ride height? - saw your profile are you still soldiering along? Did a bit of that myself quite a few years ago!

Brett, I've had 20's on mine for a while now. The ride quality is still good. This pic is with the suspension at a lower setting. 90% of the time the car sits an inch or two higher, though it has never scrubbed at any height. Hope that helps...

Brett, yes that is normal ride height, driveway at home is a tad too steep for her to be any lower, which is where the front bar copped a couple of marks. Yes am still soldiering on, coming up for the 10 year mark in jan 06. How long were you in for? (a bit of a hijack I know)

I actually bottom out on speed bumps all the time but love being low. I would hate to look at the bottom of my side skirts. Also I am shortly fitting a VTX front bar so that should be interesting
20s raised my car slightly, but only because we couldn't get a perfect match on tyre size. Next time around I'll spend the extra $ and go Pirelli so I can get the size I actually want.
