Hi,
Just wanted to know how i should go about removing the wind deflectors along the edge of the window. The previous owner of the car pulled the deflector off around the sunroof and wrecked the paint (I will respray the roof in the future). I belive it is glued on and also has little brackets, how do i go about removing this without killing the paint?

The side deflectors are clipped on and sealed with sticky stuff. The clips aren't a problem, they are just pushed in under the rubber seal. More to locate the deflector as it's the sticky that actually holds them in place.

yea i think it might be the same glue as in the headlights which means it will be a pain to get off the paint after. Is this something i should have done professionally so if the paint is damaged they can fix it

Try eucolyptus oil spray this worked for me. I removed mine a week ago. Took about 1/2 hour each side and a couple of blisters but good to finally see the wrap around chrome around the windows!

I used fishing line on mine, worked a treat, very similar to Jeff's dental floss of course. I cleaned up with Brasso, as I lacked Prepsol We were keeping them just moving to another car.

Thanks for the advice Jeff I used dental floss to start sawing off the double sided tape and it works great i will take the whole thing off tonight after i get some prepsol to remove the leftover tape.
I think I will use fishing wire because my floss keeps on breaking but i will miss the minty fresh scent of my Oral B Minty fresh floss.
Also Ian remember Jeffs deflectors on F1 Kits are brand new, mine are used so if your are after new ones please contact Jeff.

I have run fishing wire along the seal to take off the deflectors but i cant get the clips out of the seal i dont want to force them without knowing exactly how to remove them.
Also i used a citrus cleaner to get rid of the excess tape and its very hard to get off and not really doing the job, what is prepsol and where could i buy some. (Bunnings, supermarket?)

Yea i guess it should be fine as long as the clips are still in tacked you could just clip it on and stick it with double sided tape from the hardware store.

I moved the deflectors from the '95 to the '97. Bugger of a job to get the old tape off, I used Brasso in the end (should have gone to panelbeater's and bludged some Prepsol)
The worst part is getting the old tape out of the groove in the deflectors- I ended up using a sharp knife, but that put scratches on the inside of the groove which show from the outside. Prepsol might negate that.
Adam, do you have two little black foam triangles at the front? If so, save them, as they fill in the very front section and may prevent "wind whistle" at speed. They are stuck on with thin double-sided tape. I thought to cut some from foam but they are an odd shape, and I can't get dense black foam, only grey.
Apparently for refitting you need a good quality double-sided tape, not the stuff you buy at the hardware store. I got some from the panelbeater. I had had the B-pillar covers redone in gunmetal as they were daggy, and these had to be finished, naturally enough, before I could refit the deflectors.
