Everyone tells me to remove my spoiler, Tho i dont think they look too bad there only small and they add character to the back of the car, My soarer is pearl white, What do you guys think, Do they look better with or without the spoilers?

personal preference my man go with your heart my one didn't have a spoiler so I got a small factory lip spoiler and like you I think it completes the back of the car but at the end of the day your the one who has to live with it. on the other side try removing it and just put some plugs in the holes and drive it round for a week and see which you prefer also remember if you decide to remove it you will need to run a high stop light in you rear windscreen if you don't already have 1

also too if your car came with a genuine spoiler from factory not fitted after sale then you will have lumps in the boot to help locate the spoiler. so would look funny when you take the wing off you would have to get a new boot to make it smooth

Simply - i wouldn't.

The car is pretty featureless without it. Big boring lights, Big boring bonnet, Big boring boot.

About the only things that stick out are the mirrors and the wing.

Leave it there, do you want it so that it's your mirrors that are the only bit sticking out?

If you've got the spoiler then keep it. I reckon the back of the soarer looks good either way

Spoilers make the soarer look complete.

I have had a couple of them in the past without spoilers and they look somewhat retarded.

The lack of spoilers on my last Soarer made me sell it for a BMW 325i, I got fed up with the way it looked.

Lately I like them again.

The Soarer is a classic design, with or without the spoiler. I often get people asking me what it is and very surprised when they find out that a) Its a Toyota, and B) its 14 years old.

Beyond aesthetics, the spoiler does make a small but definite improvement to aerodynamics - reducing drag CF by enough to have an impact on fuel efficiency, and though I've never seen any figures, probably reduces rear lift too.

Matter of opinion but i think that looks like a prelude.

blargh

But don't take offence, it's your car and i'm sure you think my spoiler looks bad :-)

Is all good, I have desided to put it back on because it handles better around corners with the spoiler on, seems to hold the back down better,

Handle better? Really? Didn't think it would give any noticeable downnforce.

It dose around corners, On mine, it felt a bit floaty without it, Or maby i was just wigging out, Tho im happy i put it back on now, It adds charterer to the car. I dont think spoilers make much difference on normal cars but on roarers they help, But i guess everyone finds there sweet spot in there car,

Factory spoilers finish the back off nicely and actually reduce drag :-)

These sorts of aerodynamic effects only come in to place at high speed, well over the speed limit.

Not really relevant for a road car, unless its seeing track work.

lol that's what I was thinking. If Jai can notice the little soarer spoiler then he really must know his car.

Over a surface area of - what? maybe half a square meter? ...it wouldn't take much to end up with quite a few kilos of down force at 100 KM/H. But yeah, realistically you aren't going to notice it on the road. Its more the reduction in drag that might save you a few dollars a year on fuel.

I just notise that it holds the back down, my car handles really nice an when i took the spoiler of it felt different, Like it handled the same when i had someone sitting in the back seat, But when no one in the back seat it was different, But where all different an we all find our sweet spot in our cars,

Jai at the end of the day the rear wing doesn't do jack but light up a rear led strip and give it a different look. (I don't want to get into the science of aerodynamics, google it or pick up a book and read it).

The back of your car could have felt different due to a number of factors road surface, different fuel levels ect the list goes on. the only proper way to see if the little pissy wing we have on out soarers is to chuck it in a wind tunnel which I don't think any of us have sitting in the backyard.

Sorry don't mean to be snappy but it clearly obvious that it's not ment to make any significant difference. And FYI if you want max down force have a look under a super car Ferrari, Aston martin even jags I think they are all covered on the under side some with rear diffusers to help with the dynamics.

Any way there's my daily rant.

two and a half kilos from memory.

The spoiler will do 'jack because it is enough to lower the coefficient of drag to .31 over the normal boot shape. It WILL generate a small area of high pressure on top, and an area of low pressure below, which by common definition leads to 'downforce'.

Now how much it will generate, and how noticeable it will be at legal speeds remains to be quantified.

I would say maybe a few bags of sugar.

Enough weight to make the boot act like a guillotine if the gas struts are weak.
