Any body ever had a new windscreen and noticed some slight visual distortion through the glass. My stock old one was not an issue for this but after 10 mins in the car with the new one it felt for a moment like I had a bad pair of glasses on. Windscreens Obrien fitted and was reasonably happy with the job after I got them to finish trim properly!

Our statesman has a screen like this. Not sure if its factory screen or been replaced before we bought it. But it has horizontal distortions like the moulds they use are bad quality. Ive only notice it every once in a while, in certain light conditions and angles.

I just got a new one two months ago, and its fine. I have noticed once very small bubble in the glass, less than a MM across, but otherwise it is of similar quality to the one it replaced. No distortion at all.

Hey All Thanks for the replys. The job was quoted at 400, I just got the quote but did not book it in. The next day Sydney rang me to say they are over supplied and would knock 100 off if I were to go ahead. Well I jusdt love new glass. Did it in my F100 and it's so worth it. Never a waste of money I reckon. Every hour you spend driving into the early or late Sunlight you appreciate it. I'll see if it settles in but i'm going to check with RTA to see if it's a RWC thing. If it pisses me off I'm going back insisting on a new one.
At my work we have a fleet of current style Corollas (about 60 of them) and they all have distortion around the wiper area. All genuine windscreens too.

I had to get a new windscreen for RWC and it only cost me $200, yes it had distortion (like a ripple), but I just realised I haven't noticed it for ages, I think it went away coz I wouldn't have gotten use to something like that. See if yours goes away?

Mine is branded "XYG" and made in China, based in Canada. A quick Google reveals they don't have a good reputation, but after two months I'm really pretty happy with mine so maybe I got lucky or my installer was fussy enough to send back anything that didn't meet the grade.
The tint colour in particular is very nice. If it doesn't stand the test of time I can always get another one I guess.
Anyway PPG seems to be the goods if you need to go aftermarket.

You mean the tint at the top yes? Mine is a green tint. Also I think the distortion is going away. Maybe. Will have a good drive today and see once more. Cheers. J.

Is it similar to the factory Soarer tint? It'd be nice if it was, seeing that some come with a bronze tint and others with green.
Yup, there are the same two options. The tint does seem to be darker though which is good - I don't have to use my visor as much as I did with the OEM screen.
