I recently bought a 91 uzz31 v8 as my first car, and since I have a bit over 2 more months until I'm on my P's, I wanna fix up a few of the small problems with it by then.
One of the main problems is that the passenger side door is quite hard to open compared to the driver's side. I have to pull a fair bit harder to open it, and when I do, it feels as if something near the trim of the door is being pulled as soon as it starts to open, and as it is opened more, a loud 'bang or 'pop' type sound is heard. Could it be simply that I need to get the hinge reconditioned? and if so, does anybody happen to know someone in Perth who does this type of work, and how much it costs?
I did notice that something has been taped up on the passengers side near the hinge, and I will attach pics of both the passenger side and driver side so that somebody might see what might be causing this. Sorry that the pics are pretty poor but the car is in the garage. I can post better pics if needed.
Also, the door will not open from the outside because when the handle is pulled, it acts the same as if it were locked. I have looked into this a bit and it appears that a plastic clip that locks a metal rod into the handle has broken, so I am not too worried about this as it will hopefully be easy to fix and not too costly.
Looks like the tape is holding speaker wire. Someone was too lazy to try and get it through the conduit.
As a tempoary fix, you can loosen the front guard bolts near the bonnet line and push the guard in a fraction to prevent damaging your door and guard.
Just loosen the bolts, gently close the bonnet and push the guard in till it almost touches. If you push the guard in too far and slam the bonnet shut.... Ouch!!!!
