I want to paint my brake callipers, but wanted to know what paint I would be able to use? Heat resistant paint is obviously the only option right?

Iv'e used ordinary automotive spray paint with final coat of clear on a few cars - works fine and holds up to high temps...

I used black stove paint and I put white Lexus stickers on them. Just don't give them too many coats because it may affect the heat dissipation from the rotors.

Katrina, do you really think this is a dumb question? Please explain why you think it is dumb. I am not sure if your cherokee or soarer has large wheels, but when large non factory wheels do not cover much of the inner part of the braking system (i.e. rotor, and brake calliper) and all you can see is a dark brown rusty colour, why would you not want to spruce up the look of it, make it more visually appealing. Lots of people do it. I am guessing that you might be the only one here that thinks that it is a dumb idea. |

My TT fronts came in bronze. I know that red, black and silver are popular and I see Pearl Blue mentioned above. What other colours have people tried?

I'm also thinking of painting the brake callipers too and heard that the G2 paints are pretty good http://www.sportcompactonly.com/product.aspx?p=2200&c=5&l=0

Painted mine with a tin of silver enamel and a small paintbrush. No problems - can't see the need for any special paint.

Don, you weren't driving hard enough "Brakes reach temperatures of 345°C. plus. Even VHT Engine Enamel is only rated to 249°C. VHT Brake and Caliper Paint will take temperature of 485°C. and is chemical resistant when dry"

True!, although I tend to use the trans for decelerating, and the brakes only for a quick dab, or holding while stopped |

I had 16" supra wheels (?) on my soarer in Japan.. and from what shape the car was in .. honestly what the wheels looked like was last on my list.. ask Don or Peter or anyone that were with me on my list to rebuild my soarer LOL As for my cherokee, I have 16's on those also.. and its a vehicle that I run through the mud and use big time in 4 wheel drive.. so its covered in mud from top to bottom most of the time. I live near the rocky mountains where its all mud, 4 wheeling and fun out here So, I dont think its a dumb idea to paint calipers and such.. just never came to mind for me to do it
