Hi Darren,
Soarer festival is held every year. There are several soarer clubs in Japan and leaders among those clubs are managing the annual meeting. This time it was a joint meeting with Supra fans.
This is my YouTube video of the festival.

Stock offset is +50, max track increase legally is +25mm (though im sure it is rarely checked unless you have an accident)

so you're limited to >+38 legally.

Nissan and ford rims are often +38, RX8 rims are +50

if you go too radical with offset you may tramline badly, my car came with +35 rims and 8mm spacers, it was a dog to drive.

Nice wheels... and cars, Katsuji (I assume you've reversed the usual Japanese practice of family name first, for us). Those gryphon (griffon.. there are countless spellings) centre caps are really nice, are they available separately, what diameter are they, and what sort of price? I have Lexus GS300 wheels, and boring old "L" centre caps. Very happy with the old-fashioned 16" wheels, otherwise (if I ever win Lotto, I'll get really daring , and buy a set of 17":-).

Hi Mike,
It's quite all right to call me Katsuji instead of Ueda-san. I presume you know very well about how we call each other in Japanese.
I don't know much about this griffin center cap which you are asking. Just give me some time to check all about it. I'm also very much interested in those caps.

Hi Orton,
I was very much surprised at your sharp eyes.
This soarer's body kits including the fogs are the best them all, I think.
I'll ask my friend who knows very much about this body kit and fogs. If I have enough money, I would like to have this front bar, too.

I know it's rather informal to call you Katsuji (in Australia you'd be called Kat:-)) rather than Ueda-san, but this is a informal sort of a forum. I'm no expert on Japan or Japanese but do take an interest. I have a friend (wife of a friend) who is from Nagoya, goes back nearly every year and is still a citizen, two lovely kids who go about every two years and speak Japanese fluently. My friend, despite marriage for 25+ years, and many trips to Japan (including the original one where he met wife on skiing trip) cannot speak Japanese nor understand more than a couple of characters. We once had a small circle of people where my friend's wife taught Japanese once a week.

Hi Mike,
Nagoya is the home land of Toyota and there are many Toyota factories there.
I asked my friend, who owns a UZZ32,about this center cap and he showed me some pics how to make it.
You will need four original SC430 wheel caps. Right now, it is on the Japanese Yahoo auctions below.

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f113000829
Those wheel caps are still available as a part but it is very expensive. One wheel cap will cost more than 10,000Yen (=AU$125). So, this auction caps (brand-new!) are good buy, I think.
After getting the wheel caps, just watch my friend's pics. He just has completed making those caps a few weeks ago.

The size of the center cap is 62mm in diameter.

Hi again Ueda-san, I've seen the Toyota factories, its like a big suburb or city of its own. Makes Fishermen's Bend look like a half-hearted joke.

I see what you mean, Katsuji, very expensive, for a set of four. They look wonderful though... I've seen those large wheel covers in the past, one was for sale on TradeMe (a site like Ebay in NZ). One wouldn't be much use! Thanks for posting the pics:-)

Hi Darren,
I saw your website and I fully understood why you know so much about Japan.
If you visit Japan next time, maybe I can show you some soarers of my friends.
We have a bimonthly meeting on the last Saturday night on odd-numbered months in Kyoto.

Thank you for your nice assist for Fishermen's Bend. Otherwise, I didn't understand the joke.
Yes, Toyota has contributed greatly not only to Nagoya city but also to Aichi prefecture.
As you said, Toyota-city are full of Toyota facilities like factories, research centers and official headquarters.
This is my YouTube video when I visited Toyota museum last year.

Hi Orton,
I asked some of my friends who knows very much about body kit sold in Japan but they all said this must be a one-off product ordered by this owner.

A rough guide is about 70mm clearance from the disk to the spoke.

This has been covered quite a lot here and if you search you will find the answers.

Most quality wheels have a high disk or low disk or A disk type marking that specifies whether it can clear large brake kits which is a combination of the offset and also the clearance of the spoke face.

Work and most other name manufacturers have this rating and can advise. An easy way to tell is if the wheels will fit a JZA80 Supra TT as these have the big brakes.

It's nothing at all to do with offset. It's only the distance between the disk and the wheel spokes.

Are all Toyota wheels offset OK for a Soarer? Looking at some Camry Sportivo 17" alloys
