Hi,

Does anybody know a cheap or backyard spray painter.

I have a black fibreglass rear bar that I need Sanded/primed and painted in White Pearl.

I got quoted $400 from a spray shop, but that seems a bit high to me.

I'd be happy to pay $200 to have it done.

300-400 is about right if you need it prepped, primed, prepped and painted. + white pearl is not the cheapest paint.

unless you go to repco, buy 3 cans of 'generic name' white for 5 bucks and use left over sand paper from the tip :-)

OK thanks guys, I decided to buy a kit that has already been sanded and primed so that should bring the cost down a little. I can get the full kit for

$700 so hopefully another $600 will get it all painted.

I got my audio system done by them, they did a good job. As far as paint goes, you can check out the gallery on the website for examples.

My mate got his commodore resprayed by them about 12 months ago, car looks like new

As far as I know you have to book ahead a fair bit in advance cause these guys have so much turnover for resprays, and the car stays there for a week during a respray.

I'm going to be getting my car resprayed the original colour there sometime this year.

I believe he got it done for $2500 because he had a few dents removed and it was in quite bad condition , Its a closed door respray so they remove weather stripping , rubber ect and sand it all back, bog and sand any dents and respray. To get the engine bay and door jams done is extra, they remove minor dents, stone chips ect, but they charge extra for significant damage.

I'm expecting mine to be around the $2000 mark because mines got the usual wear and tear minor dings and scratches, but mostly just faded paint on the bumpers.

They also colour matched the factory paint.

If you have Facebook, you can take photos and send it to them for an online quote or just drop in for a quick quote, there a friendly bunch.

You can find the soarer factory paint codes for them to match on here if your interested.
