Went to have my key cut as my present one is falling apart, went to a reputable locksmith and they could not find my car on their car list so they had to cut the key by hand. It works ok but not perfect. The locksmith said it will be the same whatever locksmith i go to, they will not be able to find my car on their list. Has anyone experienced similar? Any idea's on where i could get a perfect replica cut?

I got the correct blank but it was the cutting of the grooves to match my key that he had to do, maybe not by hand but manually. Usually they take the year and make of your car to somehow assist in the cutting, but they could not find the SC400 1994 in their list. Has anyone else got new keys cut, where and do they work ok?

This place can, but the difficult part was matching the car, they said if its not on their file it would be the same everywhere. I've experienced the same with another car , them needing the year and car type to search for something to help with the cutting

Got mine done at Bunnings for $8 - works perfectly - or at least it did until Friday when some asshole destroyed the lock trying to break into the car.

More confused now, this place was a locksmith in the business over 40 years and now i'm being told even Bunnings can do it?
This is Bunnings in Auckland - it would have been a few months after getting my car, so this is going back about 8 years. Prior to that for my old Soarer I got one cut at a place called "Mr Minute" that specialises in key and leather repairs. That one was more expensive - can't remember how much, maybe $15 or so? They did it on the spot.

All good now, went back into the locksmith and he re did it and it woks perfect now.
With that Ebay key i tried to implant my remote into that, roughly the same size but was unsuccessful in getting the buttons to work as my buttons were in a different position.
