Hi guys, I have had a search on this subject, but I couldn't find any information, so I apologise if I have doubled up on this matter.
I have a 1991 UZZ31 with the heated mirrors. Although only the left side mirror works. I read on somewhere don't recall where, that when the cars where imported they had to replace the driver's mirror for compliance.
Either way, does anyone know, or has anyone upgraded their driver's mirror to heat?

If I recall correctly, the mirrors aren't actually fitted with heaters, rather they use something like a high-frequency vibration to shake the water/ice off the glass.
This was the top result from typing "toyota soarer mirrors" into Google:

I think they heat as well. Mine certainly get warm after using the ultrasonic function, and I've seen what looks like a strip heating element under the glass on a broken mirror.
Very interesting information on that link Mark. I suppose my one does shake as it makes a noise when you first turn it on, but I also do think it does heat as well. I guess the only way to get one would be to get one from Japan. I just can't understand where the compliance to remove this function from drivers side comes from.

Well said Dave Yeah the drivers side mirrors were replaced with flat mirrors during compliance. Although the passenger side ones are untouched from factory. I have noticed on my 31 Gt-l that it does vibrate when it makes that sizzling type of noise and there definitely is a heating element in there too...that defogs the mirror when its frosted up on cold nights...just takes about 3 or 4 presses of the button before it clears it up.
Hey guys, I managed to find a shake and bake mirror from one of the guys who wrecks soarers in Victoria. The only thing is the mirror is dark green and my car is white. Any reason to stop me from changing the guts out of the green one and putting it on my white mirror?
