Just went to add petrol and the cap is stuck tight. The handle now ratchets both ways, do and undo.

I accept I will need a new cap, any suggestions how to remove/destroy the old cap without igniting the petrol tank?

Drill 2 holes, insert nails and then undo.

Could anyone please take a pic of the underside of the cap so I can see what I am dealing with?

It might help me knowing where best to drill holes. :-)

Hi Peter

have you sorted this?

I can take a photo in the morning if you still need it.

I would remove the filler neck from the tank and remove it with the cap still attached from the car and then literally break the cap into pieces in the safety of the workbench.

cheers

Steve

Thanks for the offer Steve. I managed to get it off on a cool night, seems getting very hot in the sun didn't help.

I will be getting another cap and have put it back on gently in the meantime.

Not sure why it stuck however, it's certainly not common.
