On the front inside my centre console (under the armrest) there are two plugs and a switch with Japanese text.

Does anyone know what they are and if there is any practical use for them? They look like headphone jacks or RCA type connections.

They can be converted to Stereo sound (mod in the TV tuner). Many don't work as TV has error 12. Useful for A/V in if TV is modded with cut-down version of Vlads' mod.

On that topic, Mine are working great with the iPod Mark but that odd power off thing is happening even with the car running. I think the dvd player expects a video input instead of just stereo audio and it powers off after 5 or so minutes.

Perry,
Try feeding one of the audio channels from the IPod into the video; won't be much of a pic. If the DVD stays on then I'll think of an easy way to give it a video source.
This still may not work if the DVD is looking for a sync signal but it's worth a try.
