Heya . . just started looking out for a paint shop in Sydney that won't want too much for an external respray.. guy that owned car prior to me buffed the entire thing with cutting compound resulting in a billion little scratches all over the body; apparently I will have to respray now. Will be trying to polish it properly this thursday but still keen to get a couple of good quotes..

Would appreciate any tips, or direction. .

Cheers..

It would be well to remember often you get what you pay for. :-)

Contact Michael Ercan off these forums. He's painted many Soarers and knows what needs to be done for a good job..

can you show us pics? polish wont get scratches out,did he do it by hand or machine? by hand will scratch it especially if the whole car is done by hand.cause you cant generate enough heat .if he has scratched it with a machine buff he obviously didnt know what he was doing .so he needs a good kick up the a rse. believe it or not thats how you get scratches out, fine ones anyway, machine buff with cutting compound.cheers

Haydn, when the weather is good enough I may take some good close up shots to show you, but as you suggested it is done by hand and he does need a good kick in the a ss.. cheers mate . .

Yeah. . what I neglected to mention is that the previous owner didn't understand that poles are not meant for "bump parking" either. . so there's a slight scrape on the rear right fender, nothing too bad but still is irritating to look at. what's the average price for a external flow coating . . anyone have any idea?

external flow coating?is that a respray in english?lol depends where you live these days and what the boss's overheads are, it seems to be.i have heard of people being charged $5000 to $6000 for a respray.expect to pay more if it is metallic.

I think (and don't quote me on this) flow coating is when they spray the entire car with all bits and pieces still on the car, so it looks even all over? . . anyhow, seeing Michael Ercan of Instyle body repairs tomorrow for a quote.. Thanks again Simon..

Flow coat is when they rub back the paint to perfectly flat (to remove orange peel) and then put a few layers of clear over the top. Makes it look absolutely magic, but $$$.

Can't make it into Instyle Body Repairs this week, so went into a place close by called E.R Macnamara on the Princes Hwy, To do everything that I want it's totalled up to 5k! It'll look better that new when it's done but a little higher than I thought..
