Pulled my drivers side headlight out the other day - discovered the back of it was cracked and thats why so much water was getting into it.
So I'm going to replace it anyway, but decided to go ahead and clean it.
Got it apart (note, oven temp can be very low - 120 degrees for 5 minutes was enough for me - I actually think emersion in boiling water might work better) - but how the hell do you get all the sticky grey off? Any suggestions?

Man, that is going to take FOREVER! Took me long enough just getting it off the knife I used to seperate the halves! For the moment I've just shoved it back in as I needed the car - I'll start the hunt for a replacement light next week.

When it's hot is ok to get off. It is a hot melt adhesive. So heat the bugger back up and scrape it out with a flatblade screwdriver. As soon as it cools it's gonna be a bastard so pop it back in the warmth for another min or so. It's not that bad, I have done about 20 or so sets of lights now and you get the hang of it lol
