Get the struts regassed or get new ones. Toyota or Supercheap have them.

I wouldn't bother asking Toyota, they'll be expensive.
Supercheap ones are OK from all reports.

I did my bonnet as well as boot and now they both go up with no assistance. (The front once i slide the catch at the front of the bonnet!!)
