My car got egged the other night. Good and proper. I was driving late at night, very tired, then at a quiet T intersection, some little ****ers in a car turning around me throw an egg that hits right on my bonnet, then splatters all over my windscreen. If I wasn't so tired, and if they didn't catch me so unexpectedly, I would've turned around and chased them. Also I didn't get the number plate, I wasn't exactly sure where the egg came from at first.
Anyway, enough stories. The damn egg shell left chips and scratches in my paint!
I'm just wondering what you people consider the best product to use for cleaning up the superficial scratches around the chip out of the paint. I can't afford to go to a detailer at the moment so that's the best I can do for now.
I think it was a blue ford ute, i'm gonna hunt them down.

AAAAHHHH Don't you hate that.
The only thing I can suggest is to try to use macguires paint cleans.
This is a tedious task. You have to wash chammi dry apply paint cleaner - buff off like a wax wash chami dry then polish.
Takes awhile but what it does is remove all the impurities from your paint work. So any industrial rubbish in the air that has landed on you car will be removed. Do all of this by hand - no machines or orbital buffs. You will be very impressed with the results.
I do this about once a year. The rest of the time to clean, just needs a wash, chammi and maybe a quick detail spray wax.

Sucks big time mate. I've had the same done to mine, about a week after I picked it up. Couldn't fix the damage as the egg shell chipped the paint. Hope you have better luck with yours.

Unfortunately raw egg left for longer than a few minutes often means a respray. The damage normally goes all the way through to the undercoat. This sometimes happens accidentally when parked under a tree and a small bird's egg is dislodged while another bird robs the nest. I happened to me parked on the street with a tiny egg from a native bird, presumably dropped in flight. The shell remained stuck to the boot and when I washed it off the paint went with it. LS400's and Celsior's may have a different clear top coat as my wife's LS400 has been egged twice without any damage although both times the egg hit a window and the goo dribbled down the door.

I know that raw eggs can really funk up your paint job, so as soon as I could i took it to an all night car wash place and gave it the treatment. That was about 20 minutes after it got egged though, and the paint seems fine. Just chips in the paint and some little scratches.
A mate of mine told me if I had their registration, to call up the litter bug hotline and report them for throwing rubbish out of their car window. Apparently his mate got it done to him when he threw a potato gem out the window, then bam! $250 fine in the mail!
