Okay I recently found out that my car was actually originally green (6M2 paint code) and was painted White. I identified this by (i) the engine bay not being white; and (ii) the vehicle build tag showing that code.

Anyway, from looking at the TIF, I found that the white paint code is 051. However I remember that there were maybe 3 slight variations of this paint. My car has got a goldish tint on it when the light hits it. I have also seen some White Soarers with a pinkish tint through it.

Was this just an illusion or was there some slight variations on the 051 white paint?

Should also mention that my car is a late 92 GT-TL model.

..... most of the pearl white 051s I've seen have had a creamy tint (don't want to say yellow for some reason)

My V8 is pearl white, not sure of the code...
But it looks like a creamy silver kind of pearl, hard to describe, but the same as all other pearl cars I have seen.

I've only ever seen pearl white, and a few plain white on a few TT's. ???

Too many bloody options on these cars

When I went to the paint shop, there was two different formulas for code 051, one was crystal white the other was a couple of drops of brown in, the last one was the most accurate for my car.

We had much of our car resprayed due to original damage and shipping mishaps. All was covered except for boot and bonnets. The new paint looks slightly "whiter" than the old. There is a slight creamy tinge to the old paint.

If there are any differences in formulae it would be because the painters use different brand paints (I would think). Our painter in any case doesn't use the code paint as it comes, he test sprays to get the best match.

I believe that the 051 changes with age- possibly yellowing of the clear coat like Estapol does with age.

That code was used until late in the Soarer lifespan and none were ever painted with plain white (what sacrilege!). If any cars are plain white it's a respray.

The Japanese are strange with their colours (which shows in the more exciting colours like gold and red being so damn rare:-)) and it's not unusual to have them change from one of those "weird" colours like Fire Engine Red to boring white- because white's a special colour to Japanese and Diamond Pearl White is super exclusive.

There are a couple of resprayed white cars here on Norfolk (done in Japan) while half to 3/4 of the rental fleet is white, with most of the rest being silver. Pearl cars are disliked for rental cars since they get dinged so much.
