Well, I got sick of the scratched cheap looking black plastic look on the a/c vent today, gave it a nice few coats of satin black spray - left a really nice texture as well. Ive also done the trim across the steering column which is much improved.
Ill post pictures up of the Cig cover and Gear Shifter panel once completed tomorrow and in the car.
Heres the A/C panel for a start. Im most satisfied! A wood trim kit can be off the list now!

Very nice. It looks very much 'quality'. Did you need to do much preparation? Ie was it straight on with the satin black or did you use a plastic primer?
Was this just a can of satin or did you use a spray gun? And how hard wearing would you expect it to be?

Nice work, Mike.
Nathan, you might try a plastic/perspex polish. There are a few available through boat and automotive shops, and they should take out small scratches. You might just need to test it on a small section to check that it doesn't have an adverse effect.

Well, I originally used Brasso on an Electric buffer to make to make the plastic shinny but all that did was take than factory black paint off so it left the plastic bare, you could see some of the mould lines etc!
So it looks pretty cheap then which irritated me quite a bit. I then decided to get down to the local store and get some Dulux Satin Black spray, just the standard regular stuff in the 325grm can from memory.
To paint it I first cleaned the surface down with some petrol, and used a dust cloth to make sure there were no dust particles and did about 5-10 coats over about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Let it dry and that was the result! Pretty happy with the texture that occurred as well!
Its pretty well stuck on, does not seem like it would come off easily, only way I see it coming off is if you get a metal or plastic object and scratch it hard. Definitely won’t randomly flake off!

I went crazy with plastic polish after I got my Soarer, it made everything look so much better. Until I got to the centre console. The plastic polish took the stock paint right off the plastic and I ended up with a disgusting shiny black centre console that looked like it should be in a cab that's done 1/2 a million kms.
I used White Knight flat black paint and it came up a treat.
