FGI in Wacol are reasonably priced. Volkglass in Slacks Creek sell it as well. If you haven't used it before, make sure you work ALL the bubbles out of it. I could give you some pointers but I'm not that great at it myself. Start with flat panels and work your way into curved parts.

thanks timbo, i was only going to need some flat panels so hopefully i should be alright :-) How much was it a meter (or whatever amount you have to buy) from that place at wacol do you remember? Was it normal or twill, or carbon and kevlar do you remember?

Thanks

about $55 /square metre cloth need at least 2 layers thick or its a bit see through .
you can back it up with cheaper glass cloth for strength
think carbon/kevlar bit dearer
you'll have fun ,theres a million and one uses for this stuff but its very labour intensive to do.

Yeah, what Peter said. It's just plain carbon weave, that's all you need for flat panels. Twill is more expensive, and easier to mess up the weave while laying up.

Actually Brendan, I've got a mate who's looking to do a carbon bash plate for his bike sometime soon. He's a bit of a guru with cf so if you wanna learn the proper way to work with it then send us an email and we can do a flat panel at the same time. I need a flat panel for my BFI, just haven't got round to making it yet.
