That is correct but most cars these days are wired with everything included. Hence the sensor might be in all soarers as with the plug.

If not I will find another car to buy instead with air bag.

Nope, sorry. Non-airbafg equipped cars don't have the harness or sensors but they can be fitted from a wreck. Just grab all the wiring enclosed with yellow conduit and anything connected to it, especially the computer.

Those TRD wheels are about $800 landed brand new, even 2nd-hand ones go for like $500-600 :-/

The black one looks great, it'd just look a little bit silly in my spruce interior :-(

does anyone know what the difference is between the pre-96 and +96 standard wheels? hence, why TRD wheels won't fit?

I'm sure the TRD wheels could be modded somehow to fit pre-96 cars! I'm dying for one of those TRD's!!!

I don't know if it changed between Soarers, but I know that many later model steering wheels (say from a GS300 or IS200 etc) won't fit electrically as the plugs are different between the two cars (ie. US-spec SCx00's are single-stage airbags while later models are dual-stage). It sucks because the brick of a steering wheel looks outdated now. If there was a way around the plug situation it'd be fantastic as any later model steering wheel (or TRD steering wheel) could be fitted to our cars, updating the interior almost instantly.

I've got an RX330 steering wheel waiting for fitment (once I can find the airbag section for sale and a way around the dual stage and single stage fiasco).

Does anyone know if the 8/96~ Soarers have a dual stage airbag set up or is it still single staged?

I believe that post 1996 Soarers are single stage... until, I don't know when... Neil will know... but by 2000, they were two stage, I think

Just thought I'd put this here instead of starting a new thread. I bought a Lexus airbag horn pad and went to install it on a non airbag steering wheel I have laying around and found that this can not be done. Can I buy a soarer Airbag steering wheel and transfer the lexus horn pad to it and install it in my non air bagged car? I know that the airbag won't work, I just want the lexus horn pad. Also will I be able to wire in the horn easily?

Just to add on to the post on airbags, was wondering if there are any airbag adapters available from our local Toyota dealers? Was skimming through the UK forum and came across this idea.

http://www.soarerworld.com/forum/showthread.php?p=233331

(newer model airbag) + (adapter) + (OEM plug) = working airbag!!
