It can, and has been done by Manny and possibly others..........not too much of a drama as I understand it.

I can only suggest you search the archives, there may be something in there.

i have and nothing useful.

does anyone have any insight to this. do i need to take off the steering shaft down into the engine bay for this task, or does it involve using my existing steering shaft and just placing the electrical components, brackets and motors.

i know the goo roos and moderators should have some info, anything...anyone...photoes, wiring diagrams??

any info will be appreciated

thanks

Sorry Kanchana, but I've never done anything like that so can't even give you an idea where to start.

Good luck with it though

Best thing to do is to take your current one apart, and the one from the V8, see what both look like inside, compare, and replace what is necessary. I presume there would be three wires running negative, positive, and accessory. It would probably be a matter of removing the manual mechanism and installing the little motor. Should be that hard to figure it out even if you're only a little mechanically minded. I wouldn't mind trying that myself or helping you out, out of curiousity, pity we're in different states.

How much did you get that V8 column for? Might be a next item on the agenda for me too lol!

interesting day i had. my mate, his brother and i attempted to see if we could put the steering tilt in my car...

well we got both steering shafts out (with motors and all) and realised that both were inter-changable with each other...so first problem solved, shaft with motors can be attached.

however when it came to the tilt buttons which power the motors and control them were mind baffling...the wiring??

could not figure it out, we guessed there might be a control module for this somewhere but have no idea where. the wires from the tilt buttons ran up the wiring loom to god knows where

a wiring diagram for this would be really nice, we got so close

I always had the impression that there was a control module for the tilting column, possibly connected to the memory function (as in for the steering wheel and the seats in UZZ31s?).

If you get it all nutted out though keep us updated, I'd love to have that function in the car.

well i forgot to mention i saw the steering control module, but i thought this was just for the signals and power steering and stuff. That module might have the steering tilt stuff or you reckon it will be a separate one??

common guys am just a beginner...aaaaaaaaaar...soo close

should have seen last night while in bed, all i could think about were these wires and how i can make it work. this is going to be doing my head in, but ill keep trying. For the sake of the soarer members hahahah

Hey Neil this cd will have what am looking for, by the way how much

I have the control module for sale.

When I bought my TT the previous guy I had purchased it from did 90% of the conversion but I didn't want the electronic tilt so removed all parts and columns and put it back to standard.

There are a fair few parts you need, I have them all except the steering column itself. I do have the column but it was sawn off at the top so is only good for parts.

If you are interested PM me.

I believe the following parts are needed:

Tilt ECU

V8 Steering column

Tilt Controller

Steering wheel plastic surround

Wiring loom that goes from either ECU computer to power source or electric steering column to power source (im not sure where power comes from as the guy who started my car didnt ever power it up).

My understanding from him is you may also need a v8 limited dash cluster so that it is compatible with new steering column.

I have the steering wheel plastics, ECU, wiring loom plugs only,v8 dash cluster, a damaged complete steering column (which must have tilt motor on it to work obviously), and tilt controller all for sale.

Cheers,
Nik

PS Im sorry i should mention i believe the wiring loom may not be required and you may be able to adapt your current TT wiring loom as i have the plugs with wires and colouring, but you would obivously need to connect wires correctly
