| Yep, these come up occasionally on Yahoo Japan. Definitely see Jeff at F1 kits. Don't expect any group buys though - these buyers are selling ebay only and only to domestic Japan (Which is why you nee an agent like Jeff). I haven't seen these available from any other provider outside of those on Japan yahoo to date... |

Certainly hope you're wrong! Are they new sills or stick ons? I would be >very< interested if they are good quality. I remember there were some on USA ebay. They were gold and said Soarer Limited Edition but they were just metal plates that stuck onto the old sills. $24 postage and around $90 for the sills from memory. Anyways yes I would be in for a group buy. |

| nah they are just the metal strip that you stick on your door sill. it was NOT s full replacement for soarer door sills. they said it was for sc300/400 if not i would not have even bothered. considering there only metal strips they can be put on any door sil. byron ive seen those ones on ebay but they dont light up. personally i love the lighted up ones but if i cant, my second preference are the ones from Vlamos web site. they look nice. maybe if we can get jeff in this thread he might enlighten us on any options, if he can do a group buy from japan or not? i would pay about 150- 200 dollars for the ones in the pick, considering the ebay ones cost you 110 delivered, these ones look mad. i know merc put something similar on one of their AMG's model. looked hot |

For some reason the Mitsubishi FTO also comes to mind. So what's with the glowing bit is it just glow in the dark stuff? How on earth does it get any light? And $200 seems pretty darn expensive, hope they are much cheaper. Has someone got into contact with Jeff? |

Brett - actually I think you are right there. I can see a couple of Lit "Lexus" ones up on Yahoo Japan now but for the SC430. And now that you mention it the "Soarer" ones I think were also for the SC430. Byron - The lit part is powered by 12 volts and is EL lighting in a small in-built module. You may already know that I actually bought a set myself a long time ago and retro fitted them into my sills. At the time I paid huge dollars for the SC430 ones and the retro fitting cost big bucks as well. I've posted pics of them up on the forum before if you do a search. The SC430 ones are listed at around the $200 mark (Which is damn CHEAP for what I originally paid). You would have to add around 30% after paying all the fees through an agent's service like Jeffs to cover the local postage to the Japan agent, the Japan agents fees, international postage to you, plus the local agent's commission here (eg: Jeff), plus paypal fees if you pay via paypal. All up you are probably looking at around $260 plus the time and cost to retrofit into the Soarer (Allow - around $100) for cutting and plastic molding etc. Allow $360 - $400 by the time you are done. Forget sub $200 - You're dreaming. And forget group buys. It costs Jeff what is shown on the auction plus all the fixed on-costs... The 20 cent lolly bags are well and truly gone now boys...get real with your pricing expectations... |

| are you sure Gregg because if they are for an sc430 why is there a celsior one next to it. i think its a universal strip, and the manufacturer has different luminecent scripts. damn! how do you search door sill in japanese |

That would be your cheapest option....
Kanchana Pathirana wrote on Thursday, May 10, 2007 - 11:57 pm:are you sure Gregg because if they are for an sc430 why is there a celsior one next to it.
There's different types. They sell the sc430 one molded into the strip as per OEM. Yes, I realise there are Celsior ones in the pic but that doesn't mean that they are universal fitting. After Brett mentioned it I'm sure I'd come across them in the past and ended up with the same conclusion (ie: That the Lexus ones were for SC430 only). Perhaps the metal strip shown molds up into the full sc430 shape - I can't remember. I'm doubtful of their suitability mainly because the plastic sill around my ones are worn and I was looking to see if I could get a new solution and came up empty handed a while ago. But hey I could be wrong, I've drunk a lot of beer between then and now...

| actually with of bit of browsing....those are for a celsior someone else brought it up earlier http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/284/61034.html?1145237222 these are the sc430 ones
now thats figured out, the lumenecent ones wont be that hard to retro fit, i mean its only thin aluminium, can just cut the edges to make a thin plate like the ones from vlamos web site. hmmmm even if you could get those lumenecent strips on there own, you could get a little creative gregg i cant find your thread with your door sills |

| Are yes Kanchana - you are correct!.... However I don't necessarily agree with the easy retrofit. The problem lies with the fact that the unit is a couple of mm thick and requires embedding into the existing sills otherwise you may have door closing/catching issues...

| Yes, but embossed, not illuminated, though if I recall, somebody cut the word out and modified the sill plate to be illuminated. |

| thats a great idea to Peter but need a precision tool to cut it, which most people dont have...i assume. who did it and how??i have no idea how you would cut that out without warping the edges. |
