Well driving home today I decided to open my drivers side window when half way down it made a crack noise and stopped working I pushed the button and it started to make a noise like removing a video from a VHS player(electrical noise)then by the time i got past the next roundabout the window had fallen in to the door. I got home and tried to use the button to pull the window up it got about half way up then stoped I tried once more and it started to make the same electrical noise...

You can bet the plastic slide on the regulator has broken. This is attached to the cable and also holds the glass in position when going up and down. You can still hear the motor because it will still move the cables up and down, but the cable is attached to the plastic that breaks. And you can't buy the plastic piece, you have to get another regulator.

Yep, need to get a new regulator. If you can't get the window up, you can pull it closed by hand. It'll get to a point where you can't pull it up anymore. Just press the button up or down a tiny bit, then you can manually pull it up again.
