Alan, yeah I did do the wheel as well... same method as with the leather.
Rub it back with wet and dry and lacquer thinner, then apply leatherique leather dye with a sprayer.

How many hours you reckon it took per seat?

Miles.

hahahahahahaha.... I'd doubt very much I'd ever choose to re-dye leather seats again !

If you are going to do it properly, ie: remove all the old lacquer to get the seats silky smooth and soft, then about 15/16 hours per front seat... thats not elapsed, that actual work time.

The break down is something along the lines of...
1. Remove seat from car (15 mins)
2. Take seat apart (remove the seat base / surround) (1 hour)
3. Rub seat back with wet and dry / lacquer thinner (11-12 hours)
4. Let seat sit for 1 day
5. Apply leather rejuvinator (15 mins)
6. Let seat sit for 1-2 days
7. Clean seat / rub down with prepping agent (15 mins)
8. Let seat sit for 12 hours
9. Re-dye seat (2-3 hours)
10. Let seat sit for 2 days
11. Clean seat and reassemble / put back in car (1 hour)

I'd say in total that car took me approx 60 hours of work. Elapsed time would be about 2 weeks if you went at it really hard !

It's been over 2 years since they dyed my light grey carpet black - still looks like Toyota fitted it as black carpet; highly recommended. There were pics, prices etc on the ALSC previously and quite a few others did theirs with Uticolor as well soon after I did mine.

Thanks... I'll give them a call - i want the carpets done in my Cima, but dont want to mess around with buying sprayers etc. Google's cache of an old ALSC page turned up a figure of about $145 for a carpet and thats well within my budget if its a good quality job...

Manny, I called the Bankstown guy, but he also doesnt do carpet dying (only cleaning/redying). He is going to come over and quote me on cleaning/recolouring my leather/vinyl seats, but i'm interested in getting the carpet dyed black though :-(
