I have recently noticed that my steering wheel can be moved up and down by about 5mm. It appears to be movement through the entire column. I have the tilt adjust column so my question is can the movement be taken out by tightening or adjusting or replacing something?

If they aren't tight it would allow the column to move up or down. They should bolt it tight to the dash area.

It's almost certain that the dash has been out at some point and they might not have been tightened.

I removed my dash the other week and they are quite tricky to get at.
