hey guys, i know this might come off as a bit stupid but do you reckon a set of MY99 wrx front bucket seats would fit into a soarer?
ok the reason i want the buckets off the rex is because firstly im not exactly a big guy (5'6") and i've been looking for a set of buckets for my soarer, and most of the middle range stuff that's on the market doesn't exactly hug me like the seats in a rex does. i know bride seats and most of the upper range seats have an great feel to them but i cant exactly afford to spend 1200+ per seat on a set of brides. my mates upgrading the interior in his rex and is willing to let me have his seats for $300.
i've considered the negative in doing this #1 black and red seats off the rex wont match the gray interior in my jzz30. my solution to this is im having the front, rear, parcel shelf, door trim etc re-trimmed some time in the near future anyway. so that will help with the color issue.
#2 i know the buckets in the rex dont even come close to being as smooth and comfy as the seats in my soarer.. but im willing to sacrifice a little comfort i guess.
so anyway guys im not sure about what issues i might have like fitting etc etc.. but any advice and tips would be seriously appreciated. plus if any one has any pics of their after market seats installed, would be great if you could post some pics. thanks guys

Not without modified rails...
With regards to the colour difference, get some racing seat covered, throw them over, they will look awesome, be comfy, hug you, and even be protected from stains and light spills. Cheaper than re-trimming.

David - Check with AAIP @ 10 Benronald St Seventeen Mile Rocks. Number : 3715 6474.
George - Yes i am VERY happy with them, i sat in a pair of these a few years ago and i loved them, so when i was in Iraq i thought i would treat myself with a pair. I bought them from Aaron's shop (Rampant) and they came with the rails already bolted on. 2nd Hand. http://www.rampant.net.au
They do sit quite low, but that suits me perfectly as i am 6'5" and they are a great fit for me unlike some other seats ive sat in which were made for tiny japs.
Scott - Yup, they fitted in very well, even had enough room underneath the seat for my ECU on the passenger side.
Sparco did well with the design on these as they put some hard wearing material (rubber perhaps?) on the high wear areas as you can see.

hey guys! after months of starting this thread i finally got my wrx seats! was looking every where for the black/gray ones.. they match up alot better with the spurce interior than any of the other colors out there. anywayz trial fitted the passengers seat.. will post up a pic soon! yep and like david mentioned they are not a direct fit. the front two bolts go in sweet with no issues! but the rails on the wrx seats are longer than the soarer ones.. therefore the rear one are the issue. either way they definitely need some modding to get them to fit. paid $200 for these seats.. so not complaining that im at any kind of a loss if i got to spend a $100 bucks here and there to get them fitted in!

hey guys, ok so its obvious that the wrx seats are not going to bolt in that easy. so im wondering.. i think these seats are recaros. correct me if i wrong? but taking into account labour and the cost of parts to have these customized and then fitted in, wouldnt it be easier to get a set of recaro rails that fit a supra, bolt these seats onto those rails and then drop them in straight? where can i get these rails? thanks

thanks david, you're a champ! well i had a chat with my mechanic and he has an idea in his head.. pretty dodge by the sound of it but.. hey its good enough as a last resort
well he basically plans to have two steel plates around 1/2 an inch thick cut to size (1 per seat). and then simply drill holes in the plate and screw the seat rail onto the plate, and then drill another pair of holes in the plate and screw it into where the holes for the standard seats were. so basically seats bolt onto the plate and the plate bolts into where the standard holes are. anywayz.. shall keep you posted on how things go! cheers

haha as long as its safe Mario! you could just source out universal rails then have your standard brackets wedded on them? That way if will bolt into your existing floor plan.

Don't forget that the buckle assembly bolts to the side of the Soarer seats.
I sourced a set of Supra aftermarket mounts and a set of universal double lock rails for my Recaro's but to get certification had to get new seatbelt mounts made on the gearbox tunnel.
Some of the rules here in NZ don't necessarily make sense but something to be aware of.

hey mate, yeh they look good and feel even better they actually sit somewhat lower than the standard seats and no.. unfortunately these are not the seats you can raise and lower.. im pretty sure those are the ones in 2002+ rexes, but hey im 5'7" and they are at the perfect height for me. now i have to come up with some method of securely bolting them in.
