| Hi guys, my interior is currently undergoing colour change. I haven't gotten to the dash yet, only the doors, but was wondering how to remove the centre woodgrain. Are they held on by bolts on the back like the door trims? Easy to remove? Or do you have to take the upper dash out? I know there have been a lot of people who have done this so any help would be appreciated. Pictures of finished interior soon. Chris |

| Yeah, a bit skeptic with the dye and all, but good words have come from most people. Going the infamous Black/Red route. |

| After 2 days, most of the dull spruce (boogey green and blue) are starting to disappear.
No idea why the handbrake cover came out glossy and the centre glovebox came out a bit pink... have to re-do them. Yeah, I got too eager and had to see what it looks like, now i have to remove it all again to do the dash. |

| Now all you need is red baseball stitching on your seats!!! Little too garish for my tastes, but looks good. |

| Nope, buying new bucket seats, as factory ones weigh a tonne!! Nearly broke my back!
Yeh, I was never a fan of pretty/bright interiors but the missus brainwashed me and I got carried away. |

| Hey, slowly getting there Josh. Just need to do the bit around the windows and rear, also waiting for the seats to arrive.

| look good mate ! Its getting me pumped for mine when i get home. Are you painting directly over the labels and stuff for the volume and AC controls? Also what is your plan for the switches? Did you dye or just change your carpet? |

| Vinh! Very nice indeed!! I was planning to put a clear gloss on mine, but didn't want that glare in my eyes. Adrain, I left the dash in and removed/masked up what I could, because of the angle of the windscreen and dash, its very hard to spray the inner bits. Very hard also to get and even finish. James, if the switches had labels on them, I left them original. Though the AC and Volume controls can be removed then console spayed (I left these in that dark green colour). As for the door switches, I'm not sure if I can find any in black, last option is to spray them. Yes I dyed the carpet, but beware, you need about 6-7 cans to do it properly! All up, I probably bought the whole Perth supply of VHT vinyl dye. |

| Well there's not that much glare to be honest. When the sun hits the console, all I get is my gorgeous golden metallic sparkling away in the corner of my eye
Do it! You know you want to! |

| Vinh, at the moment, I've just about had enough of removing/installing the interior (Probably get into guiness book of records at the speed I can do it in now). I sure will at a later date though, looks real nice. LOL, yeah Gavin everyone laughs at that air freshener, but I just had to do it too. Has anyone ever used armorall or similar on their VHT sprayed dash? Will it peel? |

| Thanks for the offer Josh, a bit late now though, I'm pretty much done. Chucked the seats in today, looks sweet! Will get pics when its daylight. I can't even remember them times I had that grey/green interior, it's such a refreshing change. Hope it lasts. |

| What colours did you end up going with for it all mate? Gloss Jet Black or Black Satin ? Same colour for carpets? And my final question, how many cans total did it take you for the job? |

| Satin black. I used a different brand of vinyl spray for the carpet, one that was readily available and cheaper. 6 cans for the carpet. Brush the carpet one way, spray in the same direction, brush it the other way and spray in that direction. I did 3 coats just to make sure. VHT Vinyl dye I used about 8 cans for the doors, dash, glovebox strip section. 2 generous coats each item. I find that VHT didn't soak into the vinyl, you can scratch it off but only with a fair bit of force. Plastics I used about 3-4 cans of satin black/red motor-spary. Use a good plastic primer, one that doesn't bubble. I cheated on the woodgrain and used contact adhesive (yes, the stuff you use to cover your school book back in the day), as I didn't want to ruin the woodgrain. Prep-wash everything using GOOD |
