Here's a suggestion;

1. Get some of the pleather seat covers in plain black as per the group buy on this site. ($600)
2. Get some spray vinyl dye in black (5 cans, $75) and dark grey (2 cans $30), and some vinyl primer (2 cans $30) and apply to the black to the dash crashpad and all spruce interior panels. Dye available from Supercheap.
3. Pick out parts of the door trims and dash in dark grey for a bit of contrast - perhaps the upper parts of the doors above the door handles and the dash just under the 'non woodgrain' dash inserts
4. Get your dash inserts Modicoated in aluminium or blackwood (don't know how much - say $200?).
5. Get some new carpets from E-Bay in Charcoal ($180)

All up under 1200 and a totally new look....

Any updates? Has anyone done anything 'special' with spruce. Coming from a black interior, I really detest it! Motivation please!

That would have to be one of the best stock spruce interiors I've seen.

I aspire to do what you've done Adrain, swap all the good limited stuff over to my JZZ30.

Good job! $50 is dirt cheap I think I'll get told $150 with my luck. Was it a hard job for the sparky? Where did he get the power from in the roof, just wired it off the roof light?

Kinda what I'm planning to do. I got that crappy green/spruce interior. Some parts are grey so I don't know what the go is there. What I intend to do is leave the top of the dash and window trimmings in the that stock dark grey then anything light grey or green becomes black with the seats re trimmed in black leather (ouch thats gonna hurt the wallet :S )! I think it will look good dark grey/black/wood together. Gonna do a wood cover for the shifter and a few other areas in wood stained and matched to the factory grain. ...it'll be a long time in the making though cos I want to leave to when I can do it in one hit. I hate driving around in a car with half it's interior out or scattered behind me in the back seat. Not a good look.

All the best with what you decide to do Warren and if anyone has some pics of their interior that they've modified and haven't already posted, post some please...Inspiration

I never minded the soarer interiors. I think they are great considering the age of the car. Personally, I think hacking stuff up is just going to detract from it even further. Give it a nice clean, replace any broken parts and have some decent mats and you should be fine.

That only looks half decent because it looks half black.

I recently did my cream/brown dash half black. (everything poo brown black)

Carpet black also, roughly 73.468 times better looking than before. Looks so much tidier and nicer. Do the same with spruce!

Will post up pics if i take some..

after owning a gold soarer with the brown/tan interior and now a blue soarer with spruce the best mod is just paint the top half black so the dark grey or the brown and it will look mint!

Hi James,'

I remember your old soarer and the interior, did you use gloss black or satin black on your dash?

This was yours wasnt it?
